Cooking for all seasons

This cooking course at the villa gives you a good insight in the Italian and Tuscan cuisine as well as a great opportunity to combine a relaxing holiday in a nice resort area.

The cooking course program varies with the season and always covers the whole menu from antipasti (starters) to dolci (desserts).

Come in summer when a soft wind refreshes the air on the hill, when the sun lazily caresses the tips of the pine trees and the crickets celebrate the warm season with their anthem. Come and learn to make refreshing salads, great range of starters and delicious desserts.

Come in autumn/winter when the fog rises mysteriously in the early morning from the valley and comes up the hill, revealing Florence with the Dome's cupola in the distance. These are good days to prepare some of the warm Tuscan soups that keep your heart and stomach cozy and warm.

Come in spring when all nature wakes up and rejoices, when its fragrance emanates from the flowers and flourishing trees in the gardens. Prepare and eat on the terrace, first courses of pasta (lasagne, carbonara, trenette al pesto) and the huge variety of vegetables and legumes, not to mention our local meat (the Florentine steak).

If you are vegetarian, you will find a great variety of choices and you will be taught only vegetarian dishes.

  • Review by Anna B. from Germany

"I have spent a fantastic and intensive week at the Institute Galileo Galilei. All the staff was very welcoming and friendly so I felt at home instantly. The secretary Eleonora was very helpful in every possible way, also for booking museum tickets or recommendations of restaurants. The course I followed was totally individualized. My teacher Antonio was very professional and it was also a lot of fun to work with him. There was no endless repetition of grammar but we only studied what was relevant to me personally. Especially the simple explanations of the actual use of each grammatical form in today's Italian language of every day was extremely valuable to me. I must strongly recommend this school to anybody who really wants to make the most of their time in Florence. And I will certainly come back."

"My sister and I have been recently this opportunity to discover In Florence, this Institute wich offers services of visiting places with a specialised guide in History of Art. We appreciated a lot the professionalism and efficiency of the work made by Eleonora, the secretary, to help us to arrange the visits "A la carte" exactly the manner we wanted to be. And more, we had a very personalised reception when we were there. Raffaello, the teacher, was great as well. We learned a lot from him and he shared generously his knowledge and love for this city. Istituto Galilei contributed to enhance our pleasure to live this amazing experience and to feel a part of Florence in relation with its treasures."

  • Review by Ksenia K. from United Kingdom

"A native Russian speaker, I have studied various foreign languages and know the difference between an ordinary school and an exceptional one. When I decided to embark on Italian, I did a thorough research and identified Istituto Galilei as a language school unlike all others - and proved to be right! Istituto Galilei is geared towards adult learners who are motivated to come to grips with Italian within a tight time frame, regardless of whether they need the language skills for business or pleasure, and provides them with the perfect means for achieving this goal. The combination of their tailored approach, individual classes, unique immersion method, focus on immediate application of the learned material in a natural setting and fantastic teachers make Istituto Galilei truly stand out among other language schools. I would highly recommend it to anyone who cares about an efficient and highly enjoyable investment of their time in learning to speak one of the most beautiful languages in the world."

  • Review by Tatiana and Manuela

"Again: thank you very much for arranging a cooking course for us. We really had a good time and learned a lot. We had a dinner party at our apartment last night and we cooked a few of the dishes I learned; they were a hit! One of our guests was Italian and he said it was perfect, so you could imagine how we were. So please, tell the chefs, we did not just laugh a lot during our one-week with them, but we actually learned and applied this knowledge. Please thank both Antonio and Alessio for us. We will go home to Manila on Sunday and together with Annette and Rocky, we will cook for our friends and family. That's all for now, until our next course!"

"We would like to congratulate you on your cooking program up at the Villa. We feel fortunate with our decision in many ways. But allow us to get more substantial in our observations (we were looking for a week of rounded Italy experience; a week of art history; mediterranean culture; beautiful landscape and cooking. During our stay we found this and plenty more. Florence, like Rome, Venice or many other places, provided the ingredients for what we were looking for. Italy, without question, is not short of opportunities. Finding a place like the Villa seemed a particularly fortunate decision for our endeavor, but all together, we are very enthusiastic about the course. The location, the cooking and the idea of getting closer to Italy were great. Possibly next time with a bit more of Italian language teaching!"
