Seize this unique opportunity to learn from two master chefs who will guide you through your practical creativity in the kitchen! Using fresh and seasonal ingredients, they will demonstrate and teach you the cookery techniques needed for mastering classic French cuisine - with an added contemporary twist of adventure. This course includes a memorable visit to one of Frances oldest markets (where you will select fresh ingredients for later preparation), as well as an outing visit to the medieval city of Carcassonne.
French House Partys 200-year-old stone barn is set in a peaceful rural area on the outskirts of the medieval World Heritage site of Carcassonne. The house has been uniquely converted in Art Deco style, with large open living spaces within the house (and a raised dais), making it ideal for performance or team. You will find several terraces, a large private pool with a barbecue area for al fresco dining, an all-weather tennis court, a covered table tennis area and a petanque (boules) pitch. There is also an indoor games room with pool table and a classic 1950s jukebox. Bicycles are available for anyone inclined towards a gentle pedal along the shadowy towpaths of the nearby Canal du Midi. There are 8 individually designed ensuite bedrooms, double, twin or triple-sized. All have air conditioning units, hairdryers and CD players. Towels are provided for both indoor and outdoor use. Two of the bedrooms have balconies, offering superb views of the Pyrenees to the south and the Black Mountains to the north.
French House Partys chauffeur will collect you at either Toulouse or Carcassonne airports. A light lunch will be provided on your arrival. Over coffee, you will talk about the weeks plan, followed by some hands-on preparation in the kitchen, making a selection of canaps for the evenings aperitif event.

20:00 Four-course dinner with a selection of wines.
08:00 Early breakfast. Afterwards, accompanied by one of your French Chefs as advisor, you will be taken by car to a traditional local market to buy fresh ingredients for the days menus.
11:00 Arrive at the hotel and immediately get to work for the first cooking session with one of French House Partys Chefs. Cook something delicious for lunch.
12:45 Lunch at home, enjoying the fruits of your labor.
14:00 Chef begins his demo and you will do some more hands-on cooking. This session will last about three hours, and you will be making the evenings main course as well as dessert.
19:45 Aperitifs on French House Partys terrace.
20:15 Dinner. Main course and pud as prepared by group. Wine is included.
08:30 Breakfast. Then get to the kitchen with your Chef for his third (and your fourth) cooking session. You will spend the morning preparing lunch under his tutelage.
14:00 Vehicle leaves for outing: this option will vary, but includes one of the following: a visit to a cheese-making farm; a visit to an olive oil factory to sample some varieties, or a private wine tasting in a vineyard.
18:30 Stop at Carcassonnes medieval city on the way back. Dinner at a superb Carcassonne restaurant, with wine included.
23:00 Transport will take you home.
This beautiful part of the Languedoc, centered on the medieval castle of Carcassonne, has a rich artistic, literary, culinary and historic heritage. The Languedoc is a geographical region of many personalities: plains and rugged mountains, lakes and breathtaking gorges, elegant cities, numberless sprawling vineyards, hot-scented sunflowers in field after field. The Canal du Midi is very close to the house and you will enjoy fantastic views of the Pyrenees, which can still be white-capped. Carcassonne is steeped in the bloody history of the Cathar genocide by the Popes Crusaders, in the 13th Century. There are numerous preserved hilltop castles within easy reach, and the jewel in the crown is the astonishing city of Carcassonne.
During your holiday, advised by two Michelin stars, you will have the opportunity to learn and prepare a wide range of French dishes. You will learn and relish from a unique gourmet menu, enjoying the fruits of you own labor.
