Day 1 - Arrival day

Arrive in the afternoon to be greeted by your friendly hosts

Settle into your delightful room before getting to know your fellow guests over delicious aperitifs.

In the afternoon, you will cleanse your palate with a course about champagne and methode traditionnelle. Try whites and pinks, dry and sweet - all delicious.

Enjoy a social evening with a three-course gourmet dinner served in the farmhouse kitchen along with a short introduction from your hosts about what to expect over the next few days.

Day 2 - Boutique wines, cheeses, and Armagnac

This morning after breakfast, you will visit one of the local vineyards and sample their best wines.

Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant or at the vineyard

In the afternoon, spend time discovering cheeses from the region and around France. Understand the different processes and tastes.

What is better to wash down your cheese than Armagnac? In the early evening, you will visit a family-run distillery (which Gascony is famous for), and learn how grape is processed in order to produce Armagnac. You will sample different vintages and even blend your own. You will be helped as you create your own personal blend of Armagnac - the only bottle in the world!

Dinner will be served back at the farmhouse giving you time to relax in the lounge or by the swimming pool. You can take advantage of one of the onsite activities such as pool, table tennis, or cycling.

Day 3 - Easy lunches, foie gras and Armagnac

After a leisurely breakfast, you will visit a local market. Visit the cathedral, mingle with the locals, sample the cheeses, meats, and fruits then relax with a cup of coffee and watch the world pass by.

Today, you will have a relaxing lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant

After lunch you will visit a beautiful chateau famous for its aperitifs and wines for an afternoon of wine tasting and a walk through history.

You will then visit a family-run foie gras business where you will learn how foie gras is made and taste three different versions of it.

A 3-course gourmet meal will then be served back at the farmhouse kitchen accompanied by delicious local wines.

Day 4 - Departure day

After breakfast, you are asked to check out by 10:00

You are welcome to relax and enjoy some free time if your flight is not until later in the day before being taken to the airport or train station for your return journey.

You will return home with fantastic memories and new skills to last for a lifetime.

  • Caroline

Caroline and her husband, Adam, decided to leave their comfortable life in Kent and with their four young children, headed off on a new adventure to France. Summers spent holidaying by the Mediterranean had instilled in them a love of outdoor life, but looking back, this was probably madness, as they had little knowledge of the French and no real idea of what they were coming to. Caroline has been a qualified teacher for over 20 years and she loves her work in the precious metal clay studio in France.

  • Adam

After working in global consulting and finance, Adam jumped at the chance to re-balance his life more in favor of family. Adam's passion for food and wine was cultivated during these early years and he has honed his skills over the last decade living in “Garden of France,” an area rich in gastronomic delights, fabulous wines, and amazing Armagnacs. For Adam, cooking is a journey through the senses and you will understand how local produce is made and the traditions behind it.

Gascony is an undiscovered region of south-west France so theres no chance youll have to wrestle with crowds when you go to sample the wonders that make this region so special. While there, youll quickly learn why Gascony is famed for its sumptuous local produce and seasonal recipes, and you will realize that the locals take their food very seriously. And, if youre partial to a cheeky little treat, Gascony is one of the main producers of foie gras. Its not just mouth-watering food you have to look forward to, though. You cant visit Gascony without trying out the fruits of the vine. Wherever you walk, youll be able to see the many vineyards sprawling over the hills and valleys, and discover that the wines are individual, full of character, and exquisite.

"It was a brilliant holiday. Caroline and Adam are excellent hosts. I came back with several pieces of jewelry to many compliments. The cooking experience was fun and there was much wine tasting and laughter. It is a beautiful part of France and I was taken to some of the little villages nearby, to markets, and Toulouse too. I made new friends. It was one of the best holidays I have had. I hope to go back again!"

"My sister and I spent a week at Baron Figues on the jewelry and cooking course - a girls holiday away from stress was the plan! Everybody involved made this a trip that will never be forgotten and forever treasured! The teaching was informal and friendly and Caroline and Adam simply couldn't do enough to make sure we had an amazing time. The surroundings, the pool, and activities were an added bonus although we were busy wine-tasting, eating local delicacies, completing jewelry projects and visiting Bordeaux! The food was phenomenal and we have come home armed with simple ways to impress our friends together with beautiful jewellery I am amazed we were able to create! I really felt that everybody made a huge effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We loved every minute of it and I would wholeheartedly recommend it - a great way to immerse yourself in rural France!
