You will stay in a modern private estate in Burgundy located outside of Beaune overlooking miles of stunning vineyards. The family who owns the house has been rooted in Burgundy for generations. The grandfather was a chocolatier, the aunt owns a truffle farm and specializes in cooking with truffles, the uncle is a chef, and the wife is a successful artist. You’ll see her sculptures scattered throughout the house and garden.

The vividly lit rooms are spacious and tastefully designed. Each room has en-suite shower and / or bath, air conditioning, robes, soap, and Wi-Fi. On the ground floor, there is a large seating area with a fireplace and a piano for evening gatherings. Underneath the house, there is an amazing natural grotto that was discovered by the family. You can enjoy sipping wine while relaxing in the jacuzzi or explore the cave. The pool is nestled in the colorful garden, which is cultivated organically with flowers and fruit trees. The main terrace is a nice place to start your day, gazing the vineyards while having breakfast, or watching the twinkling lights of Beaune at night.

Day 1 - Arrival

  • Meet with your guide at Beaune train station in the afternoon (after 15:00) to depart for the villa. Upon arrival, you can relax in your room, unpack or unwind by the pool or the gardens if weather permits. Your first wine tasting is in a surprising natural grotto under the house.
  • You will meet around 19:00 to go out for dinner in Beaune in a typical restaurant that serves specialties of the region like beef bourguignon, coq au vin, or Escargot.

Day 2 - Cote De Beaune

  • Start your day the French way with fresh croissants, country bread, yogurt, crafted jam, fresh squeezed juice, ham, or cheese.
  • After breakfast you will depart on a scenic drive through the beautiful vineyards where you will start learning about the varietals and classifications of Burgundy. You will pass by tiny villages, where all the residents are involved in wine growing and wine making, as well as more famous villages like Pommard, Volnay, Monthélie, Saint Romain. You will make a scenic overview stop to admire the beautiful French countryside.
  • Next, you will have a private wine tasting at a winemaker’s home. He and his wife will welcome us at their private cave for a wine tasting.
  • You’ll continue to the picturesque chateau Rochepot (based on opening hours). After a short visit you’ll have lunch next to the Canal de Bourgogne.
  • You will continue driving through the famous villages of Puligny, Montrachat, and Meursault and have a visit to Château de Chassagne-Montrachet and explore their 11th and 14th century cellars.
  • Free evening. Discover great restaurants in the lovely town of Beaune.

Day 3 - Cote de Nuites

  • After Breakfast you’ll explore the cote de Nuites vineyards. You’ll stroll in the village of Vosne-Romanée. The village has been a known source of quality wines for more than a thousand years, producing some of the most famous Grand Crus including Romanée Conti.
  • Next, you’ll visit the prestige Château du Clos de Vougeot that is so important to wine in Burgundy. Today it is a museum but it’s interesting to see and learn how they produced their wine in earlier years.
  • You’ll head off to lunch at a typical off the beaten path Burguignonne restaurant. After lunch, you’ll make the ultimate back door visit, where cassis liqueur, mustard and jams are made with passion. The family grows their own fruits and simmer the berries in copper basins just enough to get the consistency and keep the flavor. You’ll want to take some of this yummy organic jam home with you.
  • In the afternoon you will enjoy another visit in a private winery (cave) before heading back to the house.
  • 19:30 Dinner at a restaurant in Beaune.

Day 4 - Food and wine in Beaune

  • You are encouraged to plan your Burgunday vacation to include a Saturday. There is a wonderful market every Saturday morning. It's fun to walk around, and shop of course.
  • In the event that you are staying on a Saturday, the order of activities will change that day.
  • After breakfast you will be visiting the gem of Beaune-the Hospice de Beaune. The two wings of this historical building have been built around a central courtyard with deep roofs covered in glazed multicolored tiles arranged in geometric patterns. Inset in the roofs are gable windows with carvings and decorations, which are an art form in themselves. After touring the museum we will have a wine tasting in Beaune in a place with 14th century cellars.
  • Next you will visit a magnificent shop for true cheese lovers. The shop has a selection of 500 cheeses that are matured in its own private cave. Then, you will have a wine tasting in a large wine-growing estate whose cuverie and cellars are situated in Beaune.
  • Have the rest of day to enjoy Beaune on your own.

Day 5 - Departure

  • Morning transfer to Beaune train station.

Included excursions

During this 5-day tour, you will visit several wine-producing villages and winemakers in Cote De Beaune and Cote De nuite.

Throughout this wine-related tour, you will visit several places in Burgundy, one of France’s premier and oldest wine-producing regions. To the winemakers and growers of Burgundy, it is not only the original home of the pinot noir and chardonnay grapes but the “terroir” (land) that best expresses their character - elegant, aromatic, complex, and highly enjoyable.

In the morning, you will start your day the French way with fresh croissants, country bread, yogurt, crafted jam, freshly-squeezed juice, ham, or cheese. During the tour, you can also taste yummy, organic jam made by a local family.
