Named UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, Florence has more than one million Renaissance artworks. These include masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s David, Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, and Brunelleschi’s famous masterpiece the Dome. Hub of the Italian fashion since the 1950s, Tuscany is the birthplace of global brands such as Gucci, Pucci, and many others. Moreover, the city’s most influential fashion clan—the Ferragamos—has applied its renowned sense of style to four VIP hotels across town.

The traditional artisan workshops of the Oltrarno, produce some of the finest products including leather craft, gold craft, knitwear, furniture and antiques. We are located in one of Italy’s best wine-producing areas, with Chianti and Montepulciano among its famous products. The area is served by two international airports: Florence airport located just four kilometers from the city center, and Pisa, which is one hour by local train. High-speed trains connect Florence to Rome airport for intercontinental flights in about two hours.

Florence’s situation in a river valley produces hot, humid, windless summers, but cool, wet winters. Occasional snow in the winter gives the city a magical air, while summers can be sweltering, and hotter than on the Tuscan coast.

Spring is a lovely time to visit Florence, as the city begins to come alive and the pavement cafes bustle. Before the summer crowds descend, you’ll face much shorter waits at Florence’s major attractions. Spring nights can be cool, however, and in early spring you’ll want a jacket or shawl for the evenings. With spring showers common, you might also want to take an umbrella.

  • June, July and August are the peak tourist months in Florence, and the city can be packed. Note, however, that in August
  • especially, most locals leave the city, which can mean a rather fake touristic experience. If you’re visiting Florence in the
  • summer, be prepared to swelter. Summer in Florence is relatively dry, but if you do catch a shower it’s likely to be accompanied by thunder and lightning.

September and October are mild in Florence, and these are popular months to visit, allowing you to make the most of the city without the heavy crowds of the summer. Expect more showers as autumn develops, and by November there will be many overcast and rainy days.

Florence’s winters are cool and wet. There’s plenty of rain, so you’ll need a waterproof jacket or an umbrella if you want to enjoy Florence in the winter. Occasional snow can blanket the city, but it doesn’t usually last very long. Florence airport: Amerigo Vespucci situated in the north part of Florence, it’s distance approximately 30 minutes from the city center.
