Return to hotel for overnight.

Day 2 - Truffles and wine

Drive to Motovun, one of the most interesting medieval towns. Culinary experts agree only on one thing that truffle in gastronomy is on top level. Unusual underground hidden bulb with no plant above ground is very difficult to find. Only a well-trained dog can sniff them. Truffles grow in grey soil, in woody humid area of Motovun in the valley of Mirna. Exactly that is where we go with a truffle hunter and with his well-dressed dogs seeking truffles. During our 1,5 hours walk through the forest, the truffle hunter will tell us all the secrets and particulars about truffles.

After that, a 4-course lunch on base of truffles followed by wine will be served in a specialized restaurant.

Visiting one of the best wine cellars in Istria, we will get acquainted with procedure of wine production and tasting of white, red and sweet wine.

Return to hotel and overnight.

Day 3 - Fish and olive oil

Today we will visit town of Rovinj. Feel the enchantment of the town in its narrow medieval streets and warm Mediterranean setting. The main church of St. Euphemia keeps relics of the saint and presents one of the most beautiful Baroque achievements in Istria. From the church plateau there is a wonderful view of the open sea and numerous islets in the distance. A visit to the Rovinj town museum and the town's many galleries will complete your cultural experience.

After sightseeing we proceed to Lim fjord, a real nature reserve due to its untouched Mediterranean vegetation and extraordinary rich sea life. This fjord penetrates the inland for 10 kilometers. Natural conditions offer breading many kinds of fish and mussels.

Before lunch we sail along the Lim fjord where you will have opportunity to visit oyster farm and to taste fresh oysters.

Three-course fish menu will be served in a restaurant.

After lunch we will visit olive groves and oil mill where we will be acquainted with procedure of olive oil production and you have the opportunity to taste olive oil.

Return to hotel and overnight.

"We relied on Fiore Tours to design a custom self-guided walk across Istria. Dalibor Rudan was so responsive to our whims and needs that also had him arrange a trip down the Dalmatian Coast. Everything Dalibor planned for us was wonderful. The inns were charming and comfortable, the drivers and tour guides were prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The personal attention we received from Fiore Tours far exceeded what we have received from larger travel companies."

"We did the 5-day walking tour and the only disappointment was some heavy rain on one day which in spite of umbrellas and wet weather gear we were soaked and very muddy. Having said that this is the first time we have been met on a daily basis by the walking company and Illija couldn't do more to help. He explained where we might get caught on the directions and offered alternatives if we needed them. The towns of Motovun, Buzet, and Hum were delightful hilltop towns each with their own character. Finishing at Lovran was superb with the promenade walk the next day a must. Accommodation at each stopover was excellent however La Paranzana was a cut above the rest. The most spectacular walk was the last up to Mount Vojak, a bit cloudy, but worth the climb. The walk down was tough and 2 days later, we are still a bit sore, so make sure you are reasonably fit for this walk, or ask Illija for an alternative."

"We had the best cycling tour ever! We traveled 10 days from Zadar to Pula. Our guide Ilija could not have planned a better trip or taken better care of us, he made sure we, our group of 11 cyclists, found our way and would not let any of us take a wrong turn, not an easy task for our group! We stayed at the most amazing places. Can't say enough about the breathtaking views or delicious meals! It's a trip none of us will ever forget!! I would highly recommend this tour service for anyone traveling to Croatia! Thank you so much Ilija!"

"We have been on a lot of self-guided walking tours and Fiore ranks amongst the best. We were on a five day walking tour with Fiore who are a local company. There was great support, good accommodation and excellent information about the routes. Istria is very, very nice with beautiful hill towns, friendly people and excellent food. All the Fiore staff were very helpful, really knew their country and were flexible in changing plans where necessary. Go and enjoy!"

"We discover Istria by the hand of Fiore Tours. Dalibor put everything together for us. Great bikes, good maps and the rolling hills of Porec and surroundings are what we need for our legs. We travel along vineyards, climb to all the villages and stop for a lunch at Novigrad by the sea. Great experience! Thanks Fiore Tours."

"Fiore Tours did an excellent job preparing and executing a program for our Minnesota USA walking group. We walked the Parenzana trail beginning in Koper, Slovenia just down the Adriatic coast from Trieste, Italy, into the hill country of Croatia, and finish in Porec on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. Luka was a superb guide for our 110 kilometers journey. He was very knowledgeable about the history, geography, culture, languages and contemporary characteristics of the region. We had fine accommodations all throughout - Hotel Roza in Portorose, Pension Lovac in Kaldanija, B&B Al Merlo Olivo in Krasica, Villa Borgo in Motovun, Rural House Ritossa in Viinada, Rural House Milena in Vinjan and Hotel Porec in Porec. After finishing the Parenzana trail we were transported by Fiore Tours across Istria to the Poklon pass of the Uka mountain nature park from where we climbed to Vojak, the highest point at 1400 meters. We then descended to Lovran on Istria's eastern coast located in the Riviera region of the old Austro-Hungarian empire. Istrian food and wine and associated village festivals, together with the goodwill of the people we encountered along the way, made this a journey to remember."

"I booked a full day private tour of the Istrian countryside. At first I was apprehensive because I did not know if customization was allowed but Fiore tours was great! They let me customize my own itinerary of the hill towns. They worked with me to fit all the sites into my day trip and I really appreciated the flexibility. In addition, the guide/driver Luka was phenomenal. He went above and beyond and even took me to extra towns I didn't include in my plan. You can tell he genuinely cared about his guest and made sure they go to see everything on their list. Luka was very informative and friendly taking the time to explain everything. Luka is a top notch guide and made the whole tour enjoyable."

"It was quite a long way to go each day in the searing heat. I'd avoid August, especially in heat wave! But Fiore tours were very friendly and good about dropping us off half way so we could make it more manageable. One of our bikes was dodgy, not great. But, Fiore drove out the next day to replace it. I recommend you buy a map of Istria so you can adjust the route and to help with directions. It would be good if the tour pack included that. The booklet wasn't enough for us.Hotels were comfortable and well located. Theres only one that didn't have air con but when we asked they gave us a fan. Two hotels had a pool. It was a beautiful scenery and delightful towns. Put your swim stuff in your panniers for sea stops en route. One word of warning: some of the cycling was along busier roads than we would have liked. Overall it was a great trip but we had to customize it a bit because of the heat. You're fine with English but a bit of Italian and German helps too."

"Fiore organized a tailor-made tour for me and a group of friends. We were 20. The tour guided us in Zagreb, Pula, Zadar, Split, Korcula, Dubrovnik and five natural parks (Risnjak, Plitvice, Paklenica, Kornati and Krka). The organization was perfect. They are very good professionals that show us the best of the best everywhere. Our guide, Ivan, was a well informed person and someone who was always looking for the welfare of the group. I highly recommend Fiore to everyone who wants to visit Croatia."

"Our tour with Fiore was excellent. Our guide Luka was very knowledgeable about the fauna, flora and history of the areas we visited. Hotels and food were very good. The walks were challenging for us. But, we were able to go at our pace and see beautiful areas. It is one of the best vacations we have had. "

"What a great experience! Thanks Fiore for organizing a perfect tour through Istria for me and my wife. Everything went so well. The route was beautiful. We had no hassle with our luggage as Fiore brought it from one hotel to the next one. The hotels they have chosen for us were lovely. We enjoyed it so much. It is highly recommended! We will come back! Cheers Ulf and Susanne from Munich."

"We booked a "multi-activity" tour of Istria including mountain biking, hiking and sea kayaking. We were fortunate that we were the only couple on the trip so we had the services of a private guide, Luka. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. All hotels and transfer arrangements were excellent. We even decided to change part of the tour and stay in Porec; and Dalibor, the owner, was very accommodating and found us a nice hotel at late notice. Nothing was a problem.Luka was an excellent companion on the tour. He was very knowledgeable about the area and took us in some challenging journeys. Our favorite activities were mountain biking on the old Parenzana railway line from Buje to Buzet and sea kayaking to Rovinj. We had a car transfer booked to Venice and Luka offered to take us rather than one of the usual drivers. This was great. We highly recommend Fiore Tours for any travel activities in Istria. Five stars!!"
