After a drive winding through cork oak and chestnut forests, we were amazed to arrive at this elegant Italianate house. A very friendly dog and most welcoming owners greeted us. Our room was very comfortable and we felt totally at home in the house. There are marvelous walks right on the doorstep and charming villages to visit nearby. Breakfast was an array of local produce: fruit, eggs, cheese, homemade bread and dinner was a feast starting with some of the delicious home produced jamon and mushrooms picked that afternoon and ending with divine Portuguese custard tarts.

It was fabulous four night escape. We enjoyed delicious food, soaking up the atmosphere in the house and grounds; there were stunning settings. It was nice to mix with lovely people and enjoy the quietness of the quirky poolroom. There is a beautiful pool overlooking hills. We also enjoyed wooded walks in dappled sunshine. There are pretty villages hidden away and an occasional sighting of another person!

It is a peaceful haven in the most beautiful of settings. I highly recommend this place for a few days of peace, excellent food and escape. You will need a car to get to this place and to make the most of the surrounding country.

During a recent trip through Andalusia, we drove up to Finca Buen Vino for a vacation from our vacation and a three day cooking class. It was the highlight of the trip! We enjoyed mountain views from several different terraces. Walks included destinations such as visits to the chicken coops, the pool, and a more distant village with a monastery. Cooking classes were not only informative but also incredibly fun. We ate what we cooked under a pergola entwined with wisteria and jasmine. The rooms are all different and all quite appealing. Jeannie and Sam are the epitome of hosts, and Finco Buen Vino is an unforgettable spot.
