The Agritourism includes the main farmhouse and a small outbuilding built in the local stone, the reception area, which is housed in another ancient stone farm building, and the spacious gardens with a fenced swimming pool and sunbathing areas.

Your hosts

Tina and Paolo are expecting you! Fattoria di Statiano is a small family-run business. In the 1950s, Ettore Castaldi bought the Statiano farm with its 70 hectares of fields, woods and its ancient house dating from 1750.

In 2001, Tina and Paolo restored the old house creating a farmhouse agritourism: Fattoria di Statiano. They were fulfilling their dream of living in the heart of the Tuscan countryside where Tina always had her roots and Paolo too for thirty years.

Tina underwent a great change in her life moving from a city on the coast to the middle of the countryside. She loves preparing breakfasts, growing herbs and roses and tending the garden. She enjoys telling you all the things there are to do around the area and generally spending time with her guests which she finds very interesting.

Paolo has been working in biological agriculture for 30 years and was part of “Biomaremma”. For him, biological farming is a challenge when you apply it so meticulously but it’s a part of his search for harmony. At Statiano you can also meet Davide (Paolo’s son) and Matilde and Leonardo ( Tina’s niece and nephew) who come to lend a hand with the seasonal work of the farm. Their involvement ensures that there will always be a future for Statiano and its dream.



  • Arrival and welcome aperitive with Statiano wine, “bruschette” with extra virgin olive oil, local “pecorino” cheese, and marmalades of apple quince and grapes, or roses
  • Double bedrooms will have fresh “ fiori di campo” (wild fresh flowers) in May and June, a basket with locals and organic fresh fruit, the possibility to make a delicious expresso in their bedroom.
  • In the common area, every day from 5 p.m., guests will find a buffet with lemon water, ginger hot infusion, water, and a fresh cake or homemade biscuits.
  • 20:00 dinner with fresh and local food

  • 12:00 Transfer to Volterra where you go straight - everybody by himself - “SottoVoto” shop, a delicious farmers' shop in the heart of Pomarance to have a guided tasting to local and artisanal food.
  • 14:00 You can go to Volterra on your own and guests can do a tour of Volterra on their own. It is such an incredible town!
  • 16:00 Meeting point at Piazza dei Priori, Consorzio Turistico to visit Palazzo Viti with its marvelous collection
  • 17:30 Back to the agriturismo
  • 20:00 Dinner at the farm with the view of the sunset

Included excursions

You will be visiting Volterra city and Viti Palace, a magnificent private residence in the center of Volterra. In the various rooms of Palazzo Viti, it is possible to admire a rich collection of rare and precious objects coming mainly from the ancient East, in addition to the original furniture. More over, you will also visit the Etruscan coast, Livorno and his beautiful food market, and the farmer market of Pomarance.


Castaldi Tina


You will find the farmhouse in the Val di Cecina in the evocative Tuscan landscape of the Maremma. Surrounded by gentle hills covered in woodland, vineyards and ancient villages, the farmhouse of Statiano feels like it’s in another world but in fact, it’s in a very strategic position: just half an hour from the sea, the legendary town of Volterra and the exit to the A12 motorway.

The breakfast consists of mocha coffee, tea, herbal tea, yogurt, juices, cereals and only local milk, fruits, homemade jams, tasty cookies, and cakes. Dinners will be served at the farm.

The first cooking class will be dedicated to pasta making, the second to wine and the third to the Italian antipasto. After the class, you will enjoy the food together.
