"When our Stellenbosch Wine Tour was arranged, initially I felt it sounded like a really long day. We were proved so incorrect! We had such fun, and the time just flew. Tony Staadecker, our Explore Sideways tour guide, collected my hubby and I from our accommodation promptly that morning, and we were at once struck by his genuinely friendly, warm nature - not to mention his extensive knowledge of the surrounding wine country, general knowledge, and a quirky curiosity as to what interested us. The tour day was relaxed and flexible. We visited the most impressively beautiful wine farms, including De Morgenzon, Jordan, Cavalli, and others - tasted enviable wines and met some truly incredible people. Our lunch stop happened to be at a restaurant named Equus located on the Cavalli Wine/Stud Farm - what a treat! I've since recommended this restaurant to friends of ours who live in Cape Town, a magnificent place. I would most certainly recommend an Explore Sideways tour to anyone, and it's definitely something we will entertain in the future when visiting the beautiful Cape again!"

"Explore Sideways set up the perfect day in Frranschoek for us, with trips to five amazing wineries and an excellent lunch recommendation. Jonathan was a perfect tour guide. Very knowledgeable and informative, but also laid back and fun. No pretension at all. Was an amazing day!"

"I like drinking wine, but don't really care for wine tasting trips. I've been to Napa Valley, Upstate NYC, and Sienna vineyards, and there were all ok experiences. I joined this wine tour as a part of a pre-wedding festivities, just to hang out with my friends. And I was blown away by the awesomeness of the way Britanny had planned this whole tour. We did 3 vineyards from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - started with boutique bubbly tour which extended from tasting fresh squeezed grape to final bubbly (3-year fermentation). Then, we had an awesome garden lunch with amazing story telling and wines and finally, finished with bubbly paired with Nougats. The variety and presentation made it memorable."

"Fantastic tour of Franschhoek with multiple top quality wine tastings (too many to remember!) and delicious food combined with breathtaking scenery. Anne-Marie provided a real personalized service and we learned and saw things no conventional wine tour would have covered. Thoroughly recommended and great value for money."

"It was wonderful to have someone pick me up, give us a great tour, and take us to the wineries. Our driver was a great type guide, with plenty of background information for us. The only thing that could make this better was more wineries as an option. I would rather get a quick lunch and go to another winery in the day. We typically had 3 wineries, but could have time for a couple more. The driving tours were great and I would definitely use Explore Sideways again!"

  • "I recently booked a tour with Explore Sideways over the holiday break for a bucket list item of touring the vistas near Cape Town. I toured with my partner and we were provided a nice VIP experience. Our guide picked us up at our accommodations in the morning, he was from South Africa and put up with our remedial South Africa history and culture questions with a smile and comedy.Even though it was a "couple's trip" we never felt out of place having him as out 3rd companion. He had extensive knowledge of the main points of interest, such as Chapman's Peak, Hout Bay, Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach, False Bay, and Constantia winelands, and provided the benefit every tourist receives when guided by a local.Small secrets and vistas that enhanced our overall experience. We were dropped off back at our accommodations in the early evening with ease and we loved it so much we booked another tour with Explore Sideways for the next day to explore the Stellenbosch region. The team was very responsive to any questions we had, so we definitely have been telling friends that are traveling to the Cape to look them up."

"Explore Sideways put together a personalized wine tasting experience for me when I had friends visiting me from the USA. We were picked up in Cape Town and visited four different wine farms in the Stellenbosch area. The tour guide was very professional and knowledgeable. The highlight was definitely the wine tasting and lunch at Cavalli Estate! The Explore Sideways team was incredibly helpful in arranging and booking this tour for us!"
