Eumelia, which means harmony, is a unique sustainable development agrotourism and ecotourism accommodation. Eumelia host yoga retreats, organic and weddings as well as workshops and events for wellbeing. Wine, olive oil makers, wine and olive oil tastings, cooking classes with organic farm to table gastronomy. Olive picking and grape harvest and other agricultural activities. Eumelia’s organic farm is designed along the principles of homeodynamic / biodynamic / permaculture and the accommodation facilities are created using entirely eco-friendly materials and technology, such as recycling, compost, geothermic heating / cooling, and water recycling. Located in the prefecture of Laconia near the village of Gouves, visitors from Greece and around the world are welcome to visit Eumelia throughout the year.

The house

Built with elements from traditional Greek farmhouse architecture with modern elegance each of the houses has its own private garden and a large veranda with great view of our ancient olive grove and the surrounding mountains.

Womb lounge

The communal area in the farm stay, The Womb Lounge with its reddish clay earth color inside and outside represents the womb that nurtures and protects a baby. There, you will find the lounge area with an open fireplace overlooking the ancient olive grove and the mountains Parnonas and Taygetos.

A library, board games and wooden toys for kids, keeping everyone’s mind occupied. It is where you will enjoy your breakfast and other meals during your stay. Taste wines from one of the largest collections of Greek natural wines. An amazing terrace with a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and our olive grove. A patio where farm to table meals are served in the summer under the starlit sky looking into the cosmos.

A multi-purpose area where many of the activities take place such as natural wine tastings, olive oil tastings, farm to table cooking classes and natural soap making. The Womb Lounge is an all-day spot in the farm where you come to learn, relax and meet others and enjoy our amazing zero kilometer gastronomy.

Learn all the secrets of the local Laconic gastronomy with the guidance of the farm chef. Prepare and bake your own sourdough bread made with locally sourced and milled organic flour. Pick fresh eatable wild greens from the farm and learn to prepare filo dough and make those famous local pitas. Pick the vegetables and herbs you need from Eumelia’s organic gardens and herb spiral and prepare your own local cuisine traditional meals with a twist. From farm to your table, prepare and cook an organic, traditional, local cuisine and zero-kilometer meal. The organic vegetables and the famous organic olive oil are combined with local delicacies to offer you a unique gastronomic experience. Discover the Greek grape varieties through five natural organic wines paired with local cheeses and cured meat. Walk among Eumelia’s organic vineyards and learn the history of wine in Greece and the biodynamic practices that we follow

Olive oil and olive tasting

Learn all the secrets of the green gold of Greece, how to distinguish a fresh extra virgin olive oil, the eatable Greek olive varieties and how to store your olive oil properly. Meet the perennial olive trees that age more than 2000 years – you can even hide in their trunks!

Day tour to the historic area of Mani

Begin your second day visit of the region and this time you head to the historic area of Mani, filled with small stone castles and a raged terrain unmatched in beauty. You will visit the historic towns of Gytheio and Areopolis and head to the seaside town of Limeni with its theatrical backstage landscape and architecture. You will see how the local delicacy “Pasteli” (a honey sesame bar) is created and taste a freshly baked variety.

Laconia is a diverse destination in the Peloponnese in southern Greece that includes a vast range of ancient sites, culture, historical monuments, museums, beaches, and picturesque villages on the mountains or by the sea side. This holiday includes three organic meals per day. The organic homemade handmade breakfast includes some of Eumelia’s specialties such as lavender butter cookies, rosemary chocolate cake, freshly handmade bread with figs or olives, and infusions with wild herbs from the farm.

The chef will prepare for you an organic and zero-kilometer meal. Eumelia’s organic vegetables are combined with local delicacies and form a unique gastronomic experience. When eating out, Eumelia takes great care and chooses carefully the taverns and restaurants based on their atmosphere and quality of the local and regional cuisine. All meals except breakfast include wine.

Things to do (optional)

There are a number of activities that you can enjoy in Laconia, a magnificent part of the world, such as cave exploration in Diros, visit a petrified forest in Cape Maleas, or go to the end of the world as it was known in ancient Greece in Cape Taineron and the southernmost tip of the Balkan peninsula. You can choose to experience surfing, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking up on the mountain ranges of Taygetos and Parnonas, visiting the ancient port of Sparta near Gytheio.

You can also walk around the medieval castle town of Monemvasia or along the monasteries and churches in Mystras, home to the last Byzantine Emperor. There are other options that you can do such as experience the rugged beauty of the stone home fortresses of the Mani region, walk around the delta of the river of Evrotas, a Natura protected natural habitat, live in ancient Sparta, or feel the mighty strength of this ancient Greek state.

In Laconia, you can do agritourism activities, get a massage, do a mountain bikes, or daily trip excursion to Mount Parnonas and the villages of Geraki and Kosmas. You can also visit the castle of Geraki and head to the cobblestone village of Kosmas where you can have lunch at a traditional mountain taverna, traditional Greek coffee and visit the local herb store.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Driving directions from Athens

  • From Athens, take the national highway Α8 / E94 towards Corinth.
  • Then take highway Α7 / Ε65 to Tripoli and from there you continue towards Kalamata on the Α7/Ε65.
  • Take exit 14 Lefktro towards Sparta on the A71 and then take the exit to Sparti.
  • Take the direction to Gytheio on the E961 and you turn right at the signpost with direction to the town of Monemvasia.
  • Go through the town of Skala then you head towards the village of Vlachioti.
  • After passing through the village of Vlachioti, turn left at the signpost Gouves and head towards the village of Gouves.
  • When you reach the village on your left-hand side you will see a church in a corner, make a left turn there and follow the signpost to the farm.

Arrival by airplane

The closest airport is Kalamata International Airport. Transfers are provided for 150 EUR each way. Transfers from and to Athens International Airport are 300 EUR one way or 500 EUR both ways.

Arrival by bus

You can take the bus to Vlachiotis town bus station. From there, it is a 15-minute taxi ride to Eumelia.

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 90 days before the arrival date.
