Eumelia, which means harmony, is a unique sustainable development agrotourism and ecotourism accommodation. Eumelia host yoga retreats, organic, and weddings as well as workshops and events for wellbeing. Eumelia offers wine, olive oil making, wine and olive oil tastings, cooking classes with organic farm to table gastronomy, olive picking, grape harvest, and other agricultural activities.

Eumelia’s organic farm is designed along the principles of homeodynamic / biodynamic / permaculture and the accommodation facilities are created using entirely eco-friendly materials and technology, such as recycling, compost, geothermic heating / cooling, and water recycling. Located in the prefecture of Laconia near the village of Gouves, Eum welcome visitors from Greece and around the world to visit Eumelia throughout the year.


Day 1

In the welcome farm to table dinner, the chef will prepare for you an organic and zero-kilometer meal. Eumelia’s organic vegetables are combined with local delicacies and form a unique gastronomic experience.

Day 2

  • Organic homemade handmade breakfast, including some of Eumelia’s specialties such as lavender butter cookies, rosemary chocolate cake, freshly handmade bread with figs or olives, and infusions with wild herbs from the farm

Day 3

In the soap making session, you will experience firsthand how to make your own natural soap, selecting the herbs of your choice, combining them with organic extra virgin olive oil from the farm, and making your personal soap bar with the natural cold method.

Day 4

During your trip, you will visit the castle of Geraki and head to the cobblestone village of Kosmas where you will have lunch at a traditional mountain taverna, traditional Greek coffee, and visit the local herb store.

Day 5

In this day, you will have a local cuisine cooking class in which you will learn all the secrets of the local Laconic gastronomy with the guidance of the farm chef to prepare and bake your own sourdough bread made with locally sourced and milled organic flour, pick fresh eatable wild greens from the farm, and learn to prepare filo dough and make that famous local pitas. You will pick the vegetables and herbs you need from Eumelia’s organic gardens and herb spiral and prepare your own local cuisine traditional meals with a twist.

You will do a farm to your table, prepare and cook an organic, traditional, local cuisine, and zero-kilometer meal. The organic vegetables and the famous organic olive oil are combined with local delicacies to offer you a unique gastronomic experience. Then, you put together the gastronomic puzzle of the region, boil, bake, and create special dishes from the symphony of local products.

Things to do (optional)

There are a number of activities that you can enjoy in Laconia, a magnificent part of the world, such as cave exploration in Diros, visit a petrified forest in Cape Maleas, or go to the end of the world as it was known in ancient Greece in Cape Taineron and the southernmost tip of the Balkan peninsula. You can choose to experience surfing, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking up on the mountain ranges of Taygetos and Parnonas, visiting the ancient port of Sparta near Gytheio.

You can also walk around the medieval castle town of Monemvasia or along the monasteries and churches in Mystras, home to the last Byzantine Emperor. There are other options that you can do such as experience the rugged beauty of the stone home fortresses of the Mani region, walk around the delta of the river of Evrotas, a Natura protected natural habitat, live in ancient Sparta, or feel the mighty strength of this ancient Greek state.

In Laconia, you can do agritourism activities, get a massage, do a mountain bikes, or daily trip excursion to Mount Parnonas and the villages of Geraki and Kosmas. You can also visit the castle of Geraki and head to the cobblestone village of Kosmas where you can have lunch at a traditional mountain taverna, traditional Greek coffee and visit the local herb store

Driving directions from Athens

  • From Athens, take the national highway Α8 / E94 towards Corinth.
  • Take highway Α7 / Ε65 to Tripoli and from there you continue towards Kalamata on the Α7 / Ε65.
  • Take exit 14 Lefktro towards Sparta on the A71, then take the exit to Sparti.
  • Take the direction to Gytheio on the E961 and turn right at the signpost with direction to the town of Monemvasia.
  • Go through the town of Skala, then, head towards the village of Vlachioti.
  • After passing through the village of Vlachioti, turn left at the signpost Gouves and head towards the village of Gouves.
  • When you reach the village on your left-hand side, you will see a church in a corner, make a left turn there and follow the signposts to the farm.

Arrival by airplane

The closest airport is Kalamata International Airport (KLX). Transfer from kalamata to Eumelia is 140 EUR one way for up to 5 people and 160 EUR up to 8 people. Transfer from Athens is 270 EUR for up to 5 people and 300 EUR for up to 8 people.

Arrival by bus

You can take the bus to Vlachiotis town bus station. From there, it is a 15-minute taxi ride to Eumelia.
