Esme Tours charming private lodge is equivalent to a bed and breakfast or a guesthouse. Modern amenities are available with the exception of an internet connection. This is truly a unique experience to explore the real Spain and connect with the local people.

Day 1

Arrive in Len or Madrid and transfer to Pozos.

Stop in the village of Jimnez de Jamuz for a demonstration from traditional potters (not available Monday). This is the pottery you will use for your cooking classes in Pozos.

Get settled into your charming private lodge. Modern amenities are available with the exception of an internet connection. This is truly a unique experience to explore the real Spain and connect with the local people.

Welcome tapas and Spanish wine. Explore the area.

Dinner in Pozos, created by Chef Esmeraldo featuring foods from the province of Galicia. A dinner of Parrillada Gallega (earth and sea mixed grill) and Albarino wines.

An evening stroll.

Day 2

Freshly squeezed orange juice and caf con leche.

Leisurely breakfast.

Hands-on cooking session with Chef Esmeraldo; this mornings cooking session will incorporate traditional local cooking methods and techniques using an outdoor oven or wood-stove.

A four-course lunch will be created, along the way you will sample, taste, and savor the joys of cooking and creating. You will enjoy wines and cava from El Bierzo and Tierra de Len. A recipe booklet will be provided.

Visit the local church and museum. Explore the terraced fields, oak forests, vegetable gardens, cows and chickens as you enjoy your nature walk.

Afternoon merienda (a light afternoon snack, served before dinner).

Dinner in Pozos, created by Chef Esmeraldo with natural and when possible organic ingredients grown in the area. Specially selected Spanish wines, cava, cider and liqueurs with dinner.

Evening stroll to enjoy the stars.

Day 3

Leisurely breakfast of fresh local products.

09:00 Join chef Esmeraldo in creating a picnic lunch of wine, breads, local cheeses, jamn serrano, cecina, lomo, chorizo, Spanish tortilla and a few special surprises.

Nature hike along the Rio Eria or up the mountain for valley views.

Lunch along the way.

Afternoon merienda.

Hands-on cooking session chef Esmeraldo. You will be creating paella ibrica for our dinner. You will also create tapas to savor as you wait for your paella to cook. Jamn ibrico carving lesson.

Dinner with specially selected Spanish wines, cava, cider and liqueurs.

Evening stroll to enjoy the stars.

Day 4

Leisurely breakfast of fresh local products.

Excursion to the small villages of Truchas, Villar del Monte, and Corparales to explore the local history and farming methods. View Sacred Heart - Cristo de Valdavido perched high on a hill and built over the ruins of Count Ramiro Penos castle and an old Roman fort.

Lunch.

Dinner created by chef Esmeraldo using ingredients purchased from local markets and butchers. Tastings of Spanish wines, liqueurs and queimada - a flaming caldron of Spanish liqueur!

Day 5

Leisurely breakfast of fresh local products.

Hike to Lago de Truchillas.

Lunch.

Walk to Manzaneda via the Rio Eria where you will explore the old water mill.

Farewell dinner created by Esmeraldo with natural ingredients grown in the area will be a Spanish degustacin menu of 8 courses paired with Spanish wines, cava, and locally made apple cider.

Day 6

Leisurely breakfast of fresh local products.

Check out of your lodge.

Transfer to Leon or Madrid.
