On this 4-day tour, immerse yourself in the everyday life of unique locals! You are also baking the most delicious pie with the biggest expert: Greek grandma! You'll be on farms, taste homemade food with ingredients picked directly from the garden. You'll be tasting local wine in one of the family-owned wineries and you'll be enjoying picnic even more as you'll be picking cheese and salads directly from local producers while learning their unique local stories. You'll be taken through beautiful landscapes of Attica and Peloponnese and shown some of hidden spots.
You will stay three nights in twin rooms in premium accommodation. The accommodation selected for you is a family business with its location that is more than a picturesque setting for its owners; it represents this family’s roots. Respect for land is reflected in the “philosophy” of this beautiful boutique hotel. All the products you will find offered or for sale, come from the region, where small-scale family agriculture flourishes and offers the best of the Messinian land to guests. And the best part is that the trees you will relax by in the garden all are part of the land’s original flora; you’ll be surrounded with live trees, lemon trees, pine trees, and vines.
An Escapades representative will meet you at Athens International Airport (ATH) at 12 p.m. and a private transfer will greet you off your flight. After a short drive, you’ll have a delicious welcome late lunch/ early dinner, feasting in beautiful vineyards with an organic farm. You’ll be tasting local specialties and taste some of the locally produced great wine. This is the escape you deserve, so embrace the slow rhythm of life on the Mediterranean coast.
Afterward, you’ll be driving through beautiful landscapes of mythical Peloponnese and you will very quickly understand that almost everyone is into olives harvesting these days. In approximately four hours, you’ll be heading towards your beach house, your home for the next three days.
Mr. Yiannis can’t wait to share with you the tradition behind olive harvesting and olive oil production. You’ll be meeting him already in the morning and follow his daily rhythm. You will be surprised how interesting is the whole process and how much hands-on experience still is. Almost every olive is hand-picked! Today, be ready for some olives picking but also get ready to taste great quality olive oil and what difference it makes to local dishes.
Today, you might keep your breakfast light as we are taking you for a real feast! You’ll start your day in one of the renewed old watermills. The place is absolutely magical and you’ll wish to stay there forever. You are about to make the most delicious spinach pie with the biggest expert - Greek grandma! With the smell of freshly baked pie in your nose and some spinach pie in your bag for later (“just in case you get hungry“- grandma will say), you continue to your next destination.
You’ll be driving through some of the fairytale villages, castle and drive through the countryside. Little bit of hiking and you’ll get well deserved refreshing break next to the waterfalls. You’ll close the day in a local restaurant. Be ready to savour the unique atmosphere and experience local way of dining. Sharing food (“putting everything in the middle”) is the way locals have meals. It will be another magical moment for foodies as you’ll be trying all these local specialties. And there, it is not some regular “gyros” you might have tried. It is some home-cooked dishes.
Today, you might want to start your day slowly. Morning is yours to do as you please. Around midday, you will start your trip to Athens International Airport (ATH). On the way, you’ll stop by a local fish restaurant for a daily taste of local Mediterranean cuisine - think fresh seafood, small dishes and bursting olives - and one more dip of your feet in the sparkling sea.
