We’ve designed this trip so that the locals directly benefit from your tour.

Day 1: Arrival

Your private driver will pick you up from the airport and escort you to the Ocean Hotel, a deluxe 3 star hotel in Amman.

Day 2: Jerash, Village Lunch, & Ajloun Castle

Your guide will take you and your group to Jerash, one of the largest Roman cities in the Middle East. Head further north to the village of Orjan for a traditional lunch in a local home. After relaxing over some tea, you’ll tour Ajloun Castle, built by the nephew of the Arab general Saladin to defend against the Crusaders. You’ll then return to the nearby Orjan village for a meal and overnight in a local home.

Day 3: Olive Harvest

After breakfast, you’ll roll up your sleeves and join locals in harvesting olives on a farm. A traditional lunch will be served on the farm. After your day’s work, you’ll head back to your host home for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4: Village Hike

A local villager, along with your tour guide, will take you and your group on hiking trails through the area, visiting ancient dolmens, Roman wine presses and ancient caves. Lunch today will be in a local home. After your hike you’ll return to Amman for your overnight.

"My husband and I (an Australian and Kiwi living in London) did a 10 day private tour of Jordan over April/May arranged by Engaging Cultures. It was without a doubt one of the most authentic and enriching travel experiences we have had. Engaging Cultures delivered for us an in-depth and varied experience. The tour not only took us to the 'top' sights (Petra, Wadi Rum, Jerash, Dead Sea) but, more importantly, provided the ability to participate in family life in small villages like Orjan and bedouin life in landscapes like Wadi Araba and Wadi Rum. It was perfectly balanced - time with guides and time without; a night sleeping under the stars surrounded by the sounds of goats and bedouin dogs, through to a night sleeping in a huge resort suite after sipping cocktails by the pool, and everything in between, including homestays. The guides they employ are of the highest quality (knowledgeable locals who care about your experience and not just your tip) and we were cared for from the moment of arrival through to the moment of departure. Our Jordan experience was everything we hoped for and more!"

"I spent a week in Jordan and Palestine with a co-worker and Daniel took great care of us. The experiences were incredible. I would recommend Engaging Cultures to anyone who is looking to do something above and beyond the typical tourist experience."

"The trip that Daniel arranged for my mother and I in Orjun was easily one of our highlights of our Jordan trip. I wanted my mom to experience more of the home life of the Jordanian people, and it couldn't have gone better. We ate the best food, stayed with an incredible family (my mom's first home-stay) and had the most enlightening conversation with our host mom. Picking olives from the trees and taking home some olive oil was just icing on the cake. Our only mistake was not planning to stay longer with them."

"It's clear that Daniel and his team care deeply about the experiences they arrange. From calling my mom and arranging to have some fresh olive oil to be taken home to Canada, to all of the planning done in advance around our schedule. It would be hard to say more good things. I would definitely recommend that you contact Engaging Cultures and see what they recommend for the time of year you plan on visiting. Like us, you may end up having an amazing experience in the mountains surrounded by olive plantations (October / November), but at any other time of year I'm sure they would have many other experiences lined up for you to enjoy."

"This was a first me and my wife went to Petra so we naturally had a lot of questions about what to do or where to stay. Thankfully, Jon and Engaging Cultures took care of everything. We were greeted at the gate of Petra by Basel, who would be our tour guide for the day provided by Engaging Cultures. He was knowledgeable, patient, kind and most importantly was able to have a sense of humor with our group. After this personalized tour, we went and explored on our own until sunset and retired to the welcoming and cozy Amarin Bedouin Camp in Little Petra. As this was November in Jordan after the sunset, the weather was cool, but the sitting tent was ready for us with a warm fire and signature Bedouin tea waiting for us. We ate and slept well and woke up to a nice breakfast and set out on a camel ride which took us into the back entrance of Petra, and with the help of our tour guide, had a beautiful hike which included amazing views of Israel/Palestine and finally the Monastery. I would highly recommend booking with Engaging Cultures for any adventure in Jordan. You don't just get a tour, you get an experience you will not forget."

"This was by far one of the top three trips of my lifetime. Engaging Cultures was very laid back, flexible, organized, and knowledgeable. They kept us busy the whole time, but were completely willing to slow down and give us a chance to take it all in. They have a love for the country and the people. Their staff truly wanted this to be an amazing experience for all of us. You hear about Jordan, but until youve experienced it, youre missing out. Camel rides, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, Bedouin tents, dinner with a Bedouin family were all once in a lifetime experiences. Thanks, I would definitely use your company again."
