After this it's on to Montefalco. This town has to be visited. You will have a light lunch with a glass of Montefalco Rosso wine. In the afternoon you will visit another wine organic producer in this area (not possible on Saturdays and Sundays).
Following your lunch, this afternoon, there's time to visit Assisi. This lovely town with its fountains, little alleys, characteristic squares, and scenic views will make an unforgettable impression. Don't miss the basilica of St. Francis with the frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue, Pietro Lorenzetti, and Simone Martini. Vineyards in the hills around Assisi produce interesting red and white wines: Assisi Grechetto Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.). The wines will be served with some Umbrian tasters. In the afternoon, you will visit another wine producer in this area.
Today, you will discover the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.) wine area around another beautiful part of Umbria, Lake Trasimeno. In the hills, there are about 350 hectares of vineyard with grapes such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Garmay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grechetto, and Chardonnay. Around 12:00, you will visit the wine cellars of Poggio Totone and of course taste their wines. In the afternoon, you can just enjoy the surroundings. Lake Trasimeno is famous for its freshwater water fish, so tonight, you will have a farewell diner to taste this fish combined with a local white wine.
