I attended Dianes glorious Greek cooking school in August 2012. I was drawn to it by the location, my love of Greek food, Ikaria being a blue zone, and by Dianes tremendous talent. Our group was small, only 4 persons, and it was a week to remember. Not only, you get to learn Greek cooking techniques, but Diane explains the cultural significance, and the history of the dishes you are making. She is an excellent chef and teacher. If you are considering going, do it, you'll never regret it! Diane and Vassili are wonderful hosts.

Twenty minutes of internet research into Dianes credentials left me a little intimidated, but what the heck, Greece is beautiful and Im pretty good in a kitchen, lets see if I can get into. I had no idea at the time how fortunate I was that there was a seat available in her July 2012 class on the island of Ikaria.Diane and her husband Vassili, ever the perfect hosts, personally met me at the Ikaria airport; hugs all around and off to our seaside resort; home for the week. Each morning they would come to gather up the classmates and take us off on a new island adventure. By noon we were back on the beach for some free time and by late afternoon we would be transported up the mountain to their home for our cooking class. Aprons, knives, cutting boards, menus, wine, and we were cooking.It was exactly like being in my own kitchen with friends, we just happened to have an expert guiding us. When done preparing the spectacular meals, we would move to the stone veranda where we would talk and drink and eat. Around midnight, we all traveled back to the resort to rest our satisfied bodies in preparation for the adventures of the next day. I give this adventure a 99% because it ended too soon.

We recently attended a weeklong class on the island of Ikaria. We had the great experience of cooking, eating, and socializing in a beautiful Greek home. Diane and Vassili invite you into their home, and you feel like their personal guest. It was really fun preparing the food in such relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Sipping some Greek wine during the class didn't hurt either. We then got to enjoy the fruits of our labors in a wonderful dinner at a table set outside with fantastic views. We were kept busy with side-trips to a beekeeper, goat herder, mineral baths, winemakers, and cheese tastings. A great experience. We would highly recommend the classes and would definitely do it again.

I recently took Dianes cooking class on Ikaria. While this was my first weeklong cooking class, I was very impressed. It was an amazing experience in the culinary and cultural wonders of Greece. Diane and her husband Vassili welcomed us into their home, I felt very comfortable. We had a larger-than normal group, but we all synched pretty well. We prepared, cooked, and ate very well during the week. As is the culture of the islands, we had several late nights. When in Greece, right?The accommodations at Messtaki village were really nice. But you must have air conditioning, or it might be an issue in the summer. We had a lovely breeze that cooled things off a little, but you should ask for a fan, if your room doesn't have one. Diane and her husband were a wealth of knowledge on Greek, very down-to-earth, and approachable. It was a wonderful experience overall. Highlights: fabulous food, the honey, milking a goat and cheese tasting, and an incredible dinner and the winery!

I enjoyed it all, but particularly I loved the ambiance of the group experience, the delightful terrace where we ate, and the friendly help from Lisane and the two charming girls. The food was great, especially the weeds and veggie dishes, which I will be trying to find or grow. I loved my octopus, and especially the white bean dish. You are a great teacher, and what else can I say?
