Rimping Village is located in the perfect historical place of the city: the Wat Kate community, which was the trading area of Chiang Mai in the old days, where people from diverse cultures reside together, creating the unique style of culture of the whole community, as reflected in people’s lifestyle and architecture.

As the hotel is concerned about the significance of such cultural aspect toward local people, it is designed with a style that perfectly suits the architecture around the area; several local designs have been implemented, including the shape of the roof, slab covering the walkway, a Lanna-style door, and walls created specially with the appropriate height to unite the hotel and the community.

Rimping Village has gone for a simple and comfortable hotel with 24 rooms and excellent facilities. This is a boutique hotel that delivers comfort and a community feeling, while still offering everything you want to make your holiday perfect.

Day 1: Arrival

Upon your arrival at the Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. You will then enjoy some leisure time until the evening. Once you have settled in, you will savor a Khantoke dinner and enjoy the Northern Thai cultural show that is included with it; except if you arrive on a night flight.

Day 2: Doi Suthep and city tour

Later, you will embark for a cruise on Mae Ping River through Chiang Mai city and suburbs. With constantly changing settings, it will be difficult to get bored even for a second.

Approximately one hour later, you will arrive at the farmer’s house, where all sorts of vegetables are grown. Visit the area and have lunch on the river bank. You will then take the boat back to Warorot Market, the oldest and main market in the city.

Your guide will take you through the stalls of this massive market, where you will observe an astonishing variety of local food, fruits, vegetables, clothes, etc. You will enjoy a ride in a rickshaw through Muang Mai Market, a wholesale market, where all the farmers come to sell their products along the streets.

The day continues with a visit to Wat Chedi Luang and its superb pagoda, once the largest building in Lanna. In order to relax after this day of visits, your guide will take you for an hour relaxing traditional or oil massage before driving you back to your hotel.

Enjoy a complimentary fresh coffee before going for a two hour mini-trek through the beautiful sceneries. Along the way, the local guide will show you medicinal plants and more. You will soon reach a nice and refreshing waterfall, where you can take a rest before finishing the hike.

After lunch, drive to the highest point in Thailand, at 8415 feet. Enjoy the Ang Ka Nature Trail, a 400 meters walk through a unique ecosystem. It is time to drive to the Twin Pagodas, from which you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and beautiful gardens. On the way back to Chiang Mai, you will stop at a hill tribe market.

You will have plenty of time to interact, ride, and play with them. The camp takes only a very limited number of tourists per day and you will really enjoy being part of the Karen community for one day.

At midday, a very copious traditional Karen lunch will be served before you carry on with the activities. You will go back to your hotel at around 17:00 and you will have a DVD of photos and videos to show your friends back home the amazing day you had.

Chiang Mai's nightlife

Chiang Mai comes to life after dark, with locals and tourists mixing and mingling in a stunning number of hotspots. There is a bar, club, or place to eat and people watch at just about every turn, with every taste catered to in those places.

If you are looking for a place to drink, dance, and listen to live music, the locals would probably tell you to head to the famed Nimman Road. Located about two kilometers west of the Old City, this is an area full of places to have a little bit of fun once the sun goes down. It is also a great place to do a little bit of exploring, as every alley along this stretch of road hides little drinking spots that among the best the area has to offer. Many of the bars here offer a buffet style drinking environment, where you can drink all you want for a fixed price for a set amount of time.

You will find street food vendors all over the place, with all kinds of different culinary delights available. All of the offerings are very reasonably priced, which means you will be well fed, but still have plenty of money left over for the other fun things you have planned for the evening.

If you are looking to do some souvenir shopping while in Chiang Mai, you cannot find a better place than the night bazaar. Everything you can imagine can be found there, and you can also haggle with the vendors in order to get a better price.

Once you are finished shopping, you will also have the opportunity to attend a Muay Thai boxing match, as the arena where the fights are held is located on the premises of the bazaar. This type of fighting is incredibly popular in Thailand, and attending the events will give you a real insight into the why this is such a loved sport.

Spend a lovely time relaxing on the outskirts of Chiang Mai with Destination Chiang Mai’s fishing experience. The beautiful lake is full of both native and imported fish species so you will constantly be surprised and pleased with your catch. They provide an expert, English-speaking fishing instructor, who will teach you exactly how to improve your skills and technique, so even the most amateur fisher can benefit.
