Danena Sicily is a 19th-century farmhouse, a masseria, situated in the luscious natural landscape of Southeastern Sicily and surrounded by the breathtaking Mediterranean Sea. On a country lane away from noise and neighbors, it is close to Noto, the Nature Reserve of Vendicari, and some of the island’s most beautiful and deserted, golden-sand beaches.

The masseria has 10 beautiful double bedrooms to accommodate up to 18 persons. It also features a fresh water outdoor pool, three patios to eat or simply relax in, and a stunning sunset terrace. For your comfort, all rooms are equipped with Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, complimentary organic toiletries, and Wi-Fi.

Hatha yoga

There is something different about asana practice when one's eyes are closed. There is no room for distraction, comparison, or communication. You become gifted with the present moment. Each morning and evening, you will find the balance between movement and stillness on the yoga mat.

Using the chakra system to guide you through the practice will bring another element into the sequence and allow for deeper exploration of these subtle energy wheels. Drawing attention to the breath, especially during awareness phases, will bring you more in tune with your lung capacity and its common underuse.

Through breath, you are able to eliminate more toxins than through any other method of excretion. You will explore breath and its ability to cleanse and heal through pranayama practice. Holding postures for extended periods of time will allow your body to become more subtle and flexible without risking injury.

The states of stillness cultivated during these periods resting in posture will deepen your state of consciousness and allow for each seat to become a meditation position. Yoga is more than a workout. It makes you realize that when you surrender and when you find stillness, strength follows. The strength cultivated is both mental and physical. This differentiates yoga from other forms of exercise.


Poetry is a journey. You can feel energy in words just in the same way that you can tune in to feel the vibrations of your chakra system with yoga asana practice or feel the beat of a drum travel from base to sky. Poetry is also a healing tool. From an early age, Abby has written poetry as a method of self-healing. It enabled her to communicate with her inner-voice and untangle some of the madness that life brings.

You will meet the group on a daily basis to write. There are no expectations and no experience is necessary. You just need enthusiasm and an understanding of the power of releasing words onto paper. You will share words and create together. Those who would like will also have the opportunity to verbally share their words with the group.

Sample schedule

There will be a welcome circle on the evening of arrival, an afternoon off to explore the local area mid-way through, and some impromptu walks throughout. You will finish your journey together on the yoga mats on the last morning.

Expanding her knowledge of yogic practice and philosophy, shamanism, crystal and energy healing, permaculture design, wildlife conservation, and sustainable living techniques, has changed Abby's perspective on life dramatically. Settled in Ibiza, she combines asana yoga and meditation with poetry to bring about deep purification, healing, and transformation.

This retreat takes place in Noto, in the Sicilian Province of Syracuse, Italy. Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Nature seems to have endowed all its wonders to the land of Sicily: mountains, hills, and the sea, with its incredible colors, crystal-clear water, and the beauty of its seabeds, in no way inferior to those of other seas.

Syracuse itself is a wonderland. Echoes of ancient civilizations still resound in the streets of this coastal city and Baroque architecture narrates its eventual rebirth as the sun, sand, and sky envelop it with their brilliance. A journey to this corner of Sicily awakens profound sensations as if one were crossing the threshold of time into thousands of years ago.

  • From Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA), follow signs towards Siracusa, then take the Siracusa-Gela highway towards Rosolini.
  • Exiting Rosolini, take the exit on your right towards Pachino.
  • After 4.8 kilometers, you will see a little sign Contrada Belliscala, turn left, you will find Danena Sicily up the road.

Please book your flight to arrive at Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request at around 90 EUR each way.
