Day 1: Arrival - Hanoi

Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to the hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Full day city foodie tour in Hanoi

Your guide will pick you up for breakfast in Pho Bo Hang Dong Restaurant, a long-standing family-run eatery known for special broth and beef noodle.

Visit Café Kinh Do to savor authentic bakery from the French period. The special homemade yogurt and cakes taste as delicious as in the “Indochine in Vietnam” movie of the early 90s. The next place is Café Giang where to find egg coffee made from yolk combined with strong black coffee.

After coffee time, there will be mid-morning cyclo-ride along the Old Quarter. The cyclo will stop at Chau Long Market. Then, go to Ngoc Ha Village to see the communal house, village temple, and monument of B25 wreckage left in 1972.

Have lunch with banh cuon and bun cha. While banh cuon is the rolled rice flour cakes, bun cha includes rice vermicelli mixed with pork barbecue, crab spring rolls, etc. After lunchtime will be a walk in Hang Than Street to discover banh com, mango sweet soup, etc. Other outstanding spots are Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Temple of Literature, or Ethnology Museum.

Dinner will be prepared at Cha Ca La Vong serving the best rice vermicelli with grilled fish sausage.

Day 3: Hanoi - Duong Lam Village - Pu Luong

The itinerary will begin with the drive to Duong Lam Ancient Village (known as “Hoi An of the Red River Delta”). This ancient site preserves the hundred-year-old houses which will amaze visitors during the walking trips, particularly in Mong Phu hamlet where you can find the original village entrance gate.

Visit a communal house to understand the Northern Vietnamese house architecture. Great local food to eat will include tofu, home-hosted lunch, and special soybean sauce. When you’re full, take an outdoor bicycle ride around the countryside Duong Lam. The cycling will be enjoyable with many chances to savor che lam (cake made from sticky rice flake, ginger, and sugar), che kho (mung bean cake), etc.

The bus will head to Pu Luong Nature Reserve situated between Mai Chau and Cuc Phuong National Park, for the very scenic sightseeing. It will be an ideal environment to cherish nature of primitive forest, captivating scenes, limestone cliffs, endless terraced rice fields, and abundance of flora and fauna species.

The journey will take you toward the green destination to befriend nature and find peace of mind in a bustle-free package.

Day 4: Water wheels and rafting in Pu Luong

You will invest a whole day in Pu Luong Nature Reserve where you can feel excited with various outdoors games. By visiting a suspension bridge built over Cham River, you will take a walk toward the breathtaking water wheels. And, when you get there, come closer the sites to know how water is flowing from the river to the artificial bamboo aqueducts which appear in the simple models of various sizes.

The day tour will keep entertaining you by a visit to the local fisherman’s house. After a rest, there is a time for rave-up by the bamboo river rafting activity. It is rafting that enables you to enjoy the calm floating on the spectacular river. And, the river view will be awesome enough to please your eyes and minds to the fullest.

The boat trip will also cover time to practice how to paddle and control the boat toward the destination: the Tan Lap Bridge. Upon your arrival at the bridge, be ready for the transfer back to Pu Luong Retreat in which dinner will be prepared just for you.

Day 5: Pu Luong - Ninh Binh

Have breakfast in Pu Luong, and then be ready for a bus transfer to Ninh Binh. You will arrive at Ninh Binh during lunchtime which is perfect to have lunch in a local restaurant. After that, be excited to embark the local sampan for the cruise trip on Ngo Dong River.

Cruising will let you cherish the amazing riverscape beautified with verdant rice paddies and limestone formations. Included in the itinerary today will be the exciting cave discovery to witness the age-old and surprising scenery inside.

Leaving the grottoes, you will return to the boat station to get a quick drive to the enchanting Bich Dong, known for the magnificent mountain, three antique pagodas, and mysteriously gorgeous cave. What’s more, the panoramic valley and lush rice field greatly contribute to the natural beauty of the site. After feasting eyes with those natural highlights, you will come back to the bus and take a transfer to the hotel in Ninh Binh.

Day 6: Ninh Binh - Halong Bay

Be ready for a morning drive from Ninh Binh to Halong Bay. It is the scenic drive that will please you with the marvelous rice fields and local activities.

Time flies fast thanks to the enjoyable drive, and you will arrive at Hon Gai International Harbor, Halong. You will be welcomed by the cruise staff who is there to serve with the welcome drink. Then, check-in to your cabin which functions as a floating hotel.

The cruise trip will start to reach Bai Tu Long Bay which is famous for the tranquil and captivating seascape. Lunch will be served on board, and the view during lunchtime is very nice. You can cherish the enthralling rock formations and clear seawater.

After lunch, there will be the discovery of the intact Thien Canh Son Cave which can marvel you at how Mother Nature creates such the masterpieces. Also, take delight in cruising to Hon Co Island to unwind on the white sandy beach and play various water sports like kayaking and swimming.

Day 7: Halong - Hanoi - Hue

Get up early enough to watch the majestic sunrise on the bay from the sundeck. Without a doubt, the dawn landscape in Halong is more beautiful than any photograph or painting that you’ve ever admired. Perfect the day by savoring a cup of tea or coffee, and then the delicious breakfast in the open-air dining space.

The Halong day tour today will offer a visit to the tranquil and poetic Vung Vieng Fishing Village where you can relish the landscape and meet the friendly fishermen. The floating houses, school, and fish raising farm might appeal to most of you, and the romance of the settings will offer a wonderful background for photography. After the visit, you will return to the cruise, enjoy the services on board, or have fun with swimming.

When it comes to lunchtime, enjoy the a-la-carte lunch on board while will be traveling back to the harbor. Say goodbye to Halong and get on a bus back to Hanoi for a scheduled flight to Hue City.

Day 8: Hue City Tour

Start a day tour by walking from Trang Tien Bridge to Dong Ba Market. It offers a fresh shopping experience in the top local wholesale market in Hue. You will find yummy Hue street food like bun bo (noodle soup with beef). Get back to the hotel, and enjoy a nice breakfast.

After breakfast, there will be the cyclo trip toward Hue Citadel. The cyclo will stop at Noon Gate from which you discover Imperial City witnessing the reigns of Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Top highlights are Flag Tower, Noon Gate, Nine Holy Cannons, Nine Dynastic Urns, Thai Hoa Palace, and Forbidden Purple City. Go to see Me Xung Thien Huong shop, the world of the local candies and cookies.

Come to Dong Thien Pagoda for a vegetarian lunch. The next place will be Tu Duc Tomb, known for breathtaking architecture and attractive king’s life stories. When coming back to the town, taste banh khoai thuong tu, beef porridge, and Hue sweet soup.

Dinner will be fantastic with Hue cakes made from rice flour and shrimp, such as banh loc, banh nam, banh beo, and banh uot in Hang Me Restaurant.

Day 9: Hue - Da Nang - Hoian

The next day tour in Hue will bring you to Thien Mu Pagoda. In the morning, the pagoda looks peaceful and idyllic that will calm your mind. Take your time praying for the best in this religious symbol of the ancient city.

Following the pagoda visit, there will be the pedestrian journey to Kim Long Village to meet the Mandarin’s antique house, the chummy residents, and the locals’ daily activities. Your time in Hue will be as beautiful and peaceful as wished.

As informed, you will depart to Da Nang through the renowned Hai Van Pass. The first place to see in Da Nang City will be the unique Cham Museum where protects the sandstone artifacts of the Champa kingdom between the 4th and the 13th centuries. Lunch will be served in Apsara Restaurant.

Getting out of Da Nang a bit, you get a drive to Hoi An Old Town which is known as a living museum to find the old houses of the 16th century. Upon your arrival, check in the hotel and take a rest. Then, get out to have a great nightlife in the ancient town.

Day 10: Full day Hoi An foodie tour

Your guide will take you to Madam Phuong Restaurant where you will be served the best Hoi An banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich), highly ranked by Anthony Bourdain. After breakfast, visit the local market in which local merchants sell the fresh ingredients of meat, chicken, fish, Tra Que vegetables, etc.

There are food stalls to taste Hoi An food such as cao lau noodle. Continue to the streets filled sweet tofu, banh can trung (little pancake with egg), Hoi An black coffee, etc.

Cycling to Tra Que Vegetable Village. The 15-minute cycling brings you to the fresh, peaceful, and photogenic garden where grows organic vegetables and herbs. Only 3 kilometers from the center, this village is perfect for a Hoi An bike tour that lets you learn basil, lettuce, perilla, chive, etc., enjoy living as a farmer, and photographing.

Upon your return to the town, have lunch with Hoi An chicken rice. Among the top addresses, Com Ga Ba Nga is the very best to visit. Move to Ba Gia Restaurant to have desserts of sweet corn soup and banh dap (a kind of rice cracker). Later is your free time.

Day 11: Hoi An cooking class

A nice day in Hoi An will begin with a cooking class in the Market Restaurant. Get to the local market to learn and buy fresh fish, noodle, herb, and spices. Learn how these ingredients are used in Vietnam gastronomy, and how to sort out those of the freshest items.

During the 2.5-hour session, the chefs will perform how to cook, and then you cook. Enjoy self-cooked food, and at the end, get a recipe copy plus a Vietnamese cooking utensil.

The recipe includes:

  • Cabbage leaf parcels shrimp mousse in broth
  • BBQ chicken and lime leaves
  • Mango salad with prawns
  • Hoi An pancake with pork, prawns, and bean sprouts

Continue with the cyclo ride to Cam Nam Bridge and Cam Nam Village. Take photographs of the riverscape and local activities on Thu Bon River. You’ll be glad when staying in this village in which the locals smile sweetly.

Reaching a green little canal covered by water coconut ranges, board a local boat and begin cruising on Thu Bon River to see how locals catch clams, go fishing, etc. Around sunset, return to Hoi An.

Day 12: Hoi An - Da Nang - Saigon

Check out the hotel and transfer to Da Nang Airport to take a flight to Saigon. Getting to Saigon, the must-see tourist spots will be Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Central Post Office. Lunch will be served in Pho 2000 Restaurant.

Tour to the dynamic China Town (Cho Lon) and important Thien Hau Pagoda appreciated by many pilgrims who burn the incense every day. Take a walk on the street where “The Lover” movie was filmed, and stop by any cafeterias.

The street tour will go on excitingly to the shops that sell attractive decorative paper-made items. You will approach Binh Tay Market, the largest wholesale market built by a wealthy Chinese man in 1930.

Known as a sleepless city, Saigon will please party souls with various nightlife establishments. You can try night street food, visit local bars and pubs, watch how the Saigonese come back home on the crowded streets, etc.

Take a pleasant stop to have drinks at Zoom Café, and then delicious seafood and southern food. Each culinary address has yummy dishes and live music. To unwind more, relax at the nightclubs.

Day 13: Saigon - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho

It takes the 2-hour road transfer from Saigon to Cai Be, Tien Giang - the biggest rice basket of the country. The itinerary will offer the discovery of Cai Be and traditional handicraft on Tan Phong Island.

The boat trip on Mekong Queen will give you deep insights into the land culture, landscape, and water-based livelihood. Departing from Ba Ton’s pier, you will enjoy delightful and memorable cruising.

Visit rice-wine-making family, rice husking factory, and local brick factory. The boat will go on to the center of the town in which various water-based trading activities are being performed. The floating market is busy with many agricultural products displayed on the bamboo poles for sales. The life on the river is beautiful.

Next, visit Tan Phong Island. The 45-minute biking trip will let you discover corners of the peaceful village, and stop by any local shops to buy handicraft products, witness local houses, etc. Then, have a homemade lunch with Mekong Delta food in an antique house. Get an afternoon car transfer to Can Tho. Have dinner with the Vietnamese southern food.

Day 14: Can Tho - Saigon

Be prepared for an early boat trip to Cai Rang Floating Market, the impressive wholesale market of the Mekong Delta region. The market in the morning is very dynamic and attractive that ignites boundless photography opportunities. It’s also exciting to see how the local merchants are busy at selling. Take your time as the boat trip will ensure that you all approach the market delightfully and are pleased with the photo albums.

Then, the boat trip will continue to the busy inland market filled with the Mekong Delta products. More interestingly, the day tour itinerary will include the walking trip in the countryside roads for you to see the local life activities, meet the villagers who wave their hands to say hello to you. And, the discovery of the rice processing factory will leave you with practical knowledge about how the rice is being processed.

Minutes later, the tourist bus will pick you up and take you to Nam Bo Restaurant to have lunch. Get a transfer back to Saigon and arrive there in the late afternoon. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Indochine Restaurant and gather sweet memories.

Day 15: Saigon - Departure
