From the fall of the Roman Empire to the 18th century and today, this exquisite French 13th century chateau presents more 1500 years of live history.The valley of the little river Caudeau, at the foot of this majestic chateau, keeps numerous traces of human habitat from prehistory to the period of the Roman empire. Through the 5th century, the invasion by the Germans in 407, followed by the Visigoths and finally, by the annexation of Aquitaine to the kingdom of the Francs by Clovis (507), bring this fortification into the High Middle-Age. These troubled times lead its inhabitants into the caves and galleries of its emerging rock, later fortified and isolated by deep moats.
Tastefully appointed rooms in an exquisite French 13th century chateau that offer a comfortable, intimate and welcoming setting. During your stay, you may participate in up to six different hands-on kitchen gatherings. Topics will range from pastries to fish to duck confit. The open kitchen atmosphere invites observation, participation, and tasting at any time of day. The market tours are designed to be both informative and fun.
Your hybrid bicycle is yours to use at any time and endless biking and hiking trails await. The itinerary includes opportunities to cycle to some destinations; however, for those who prefer, a van is always available.
Learn how cheese is made at a local fromagerie, explore a fast-paced snail farm, and stroll through on of the oldest market of France to gather fresh produce for an improvised dinner at your chateau. Watch as walnuts are harvested and learn about how orchards are tended. Take part in a hunt like no other, with the famous black truffle as prey.

This retreat will take place in Prigord, France.
During this vacation, you will be feasted with daily delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, including regional wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Breakfasts are typically served at the domaine and include a selection of fruit, juice, yogurts, pastries, cereals, and a self-serve espresso bar. Omelets and crpes will be added to the menu on occasion. Lunches will be served at a local restaurant or created together. Picnic lunches are available upon request. Dinners include casual dining on the terrace, picnics in a vineyard, buffets at the domaine, and an incredible farewell party.
You can have a lovely private picnic lunch during one of your excursions. Please let Cuisine and Chateau know a day in advance and they will make the proper arrangements.
Please book your flight to arrive at the Bergerac Dordogne Prigord Airport (EGC) or at Perigueux Bassillac Airport (PGX). Cuisine and Chateau will pick you up from the airport. The pick-up is included in the price.
