This historical house in this medieval village offers private suites for each couple. There is Wi-Fi available in the house. Each suite offers a water closet and full bathroom along with a queen bed or king bed. The house is behind the walls of the medieval village but right next to the main entrance.

Try French cooking and Plein Air painting on your culinary vacation

Cooking In Provence offers culinary vacations for travelers. The French cooking and Plein Air painting classes are taught in English. This interactive vacation is a feast for the senses in which you will experience the history, views, and flavors of southern France.

Your arrival day

Cooking in Provence takes care of all of the vacation package details to make sure your arrival is smooth. Here is what you can expect on arrival:

  • Friday afternoon, evening arrival In Nice and Be Met By Karen or John.
  • Arrive at the house in Les Arcs sur Argen and settle in for a nap or refresh. Depending on arrival time.
  • 19:30-20:00 Light Evening Supper

Daily activities

Your days include fun activities, free time to enjoy local French culture, and enjoy the medieval village. You will get to enjoy a typical French breakfast in the big kitchen each morning. Traditional items available include fresh pastries, fruits, yogurts, and much more. After breakfast, you can expect:

  • Trips to local markets
  • Visits to wineries and tastings
  • Enjoying area historical sites
  • Visits to San Rafael, St. Tropez, and other interesting villages

About the classes

The French cooking classes run between four to four-and-a-half hours, and Karen provides personalized attention during sessions. Cooking in Provence covers all the basics of Provencal cooking, and participants will receive a binder containing most of the recipes. Sometimes, menu selections change depending on local market availability. Provencal aprons also are supplied for participants. The Plein Air classes run daily for the same length of time as the cooking classes.

Program

Cooking in Provence will meet you at the Nice Airport (NCE) or at the TGV train station in the village of Les Arcs sur Argens. Starting on Friday evening there will be a light supper. Breakfast daily.

Culinary classes are every day except on Wednesday, the classes will be focused on the food of Provence. The results of the cooking classes are in a daily main meal. Guests that do not wish to cook may paint Plein Aire with John. Guests may alternate between painting and cooking classes

Wednesday is a grand tour day and guests will eat out their main meal on their own in the location you visit. This tour can be to St. Tropez, Aix en Provence, St. Paul de Vence, or Gorge du Verdon, etcetera, by choice of the group. The group is limited to just three couples. All ground transportation daily to wineries, markets, and historical sites, is included. You will also visit the 11th century Abby and admission.

In the final evening, you will have a five-course dinner at a three-star facility at the top of the village which is included. The village is a medieval village which began in the 11th century. It is not commercial but kept as original as the years have allowed. It is not handicapped accessible. It is very charming and offers many photographic opportunities.

You will visit three different markets. They are San Raphael, Lourges, and the village market below the village. Guests remark that your week together allows them to see and experience places they would never have found on their own due to 22 years of being Provence and finding interesting places to visit.

Guests are returned to the Nice Airport or the TGV station on Friday morning.
