Your home for the week will be at La Chiusa in the village of Montefollonico. La Chiusa was originally an olive oil mill, each of La Chiusa’s eighteen rooms offer you a place to rest and relax after a day of exploring Tuscany. Every room is unique and has all the comforts of a luxury hotel. Enjoy the beautiful views of Montepulciano and Monte Amiata as you stroll the rolling hills that lead to our 1000-tree olive grove and vineyard. Return to your room each evening to turn down service and a sweet treat!


Cook in Tuscany classes

If you want to experience Tuscany as a local, visit Cook In Tuscany. Their classes immerse you into the local culture where you will experience a culinary "occasion" like no other. Cooking experiences change daily and with each meal. If you're looking for professional chefs, you won't find them here. The classes are taught by the local Tuscan women. Don't look for electric appliances; there are no food processors. Everything is done by hand. The cooking classes are like no other. There are no fancy blenders or chefs in tall hats. The kitchen is busy with wooden spoons and women who look and act like a distant family member. Each women teaches and entertains differently, each is unforgettable.

Day 1 - A view to die for, it's Sunday!

Day 2 - Hunting under the Tuscan sun, it's Monday!

  • Truffle hunting with Massimo, and a truffle-inspired cooking class and lunch
  • Village visit, palace and castle tour

Day 3 - A Pope and a Roman bath, it's Tuesday!

  • Morning cooking class with Helena, Sandra and Katerina
  • Depart for the Roman baths of Bagno Vignoni and Pienza - both UNESCO World Heritage sites
  • Drinks in Pienza, followed by dinner

Day 4 - Pici and wine, it's Wednesday!

  • Cooking class and lunch with Isa at La Costa
  • Wine tasting and tour in the valley with Inesa
  • Montepulciano for shopping, an underground tour and dinner

Day 5 - Ravoli and pizza, it's Thursday!

  • Cooking class and lunch in the heart of Cortona with Antonietta and Roberta
  • Visit to Le Celle, Franciscan Monastery, built by Saint Francis in 1211, still inhabited by Franciscan friars
  • Dinner in Montefollonico

Day 6 - Cheese and Bread, it's Friday!

  • Cheese and bread making class at a local farm
  • Tasting lunch while enjoying the amazing view of Pienza and Montecchiello
  • Wine tasting and cellar tour with a fifth generation wine maker
  • Farewell dinner at La Costa in Montefollonico

Cook In Tuscany program


Join Cook In Tuscany in their medieval hill top village for a week of cooking delicious meals. The women of the village are masters of their art, food! They will endear you with their skills and laughter in the kitchen. They hold the classes in the same kitchens their grandmothers, or Nonnas as they say in Italy, taught them how to mix, stir, and roll.


After sharing time in the kitchen with new friends and your new Nonna, you will get to eat. You will sit around the table on patios, in gardens and sometimes in the kitchen and share the fruits of our labor. You will dine on homemade gnocchi, tagliatelli, bruschetta, herb chicken, and stuffed flowers. Don't miss the Montefollonico original - the thick ribbons of handmade egg-less pasta - pici. And of course, no meal is complete in Tuscany without a few good bottles of vino. You will also travel to neighboring villages to dine at renowned restaurants for dinner each night.


After all the food and vino, you are ready to play - the Tuscan way. You will walk the cobblestone streets of villages, shop at local markets, visit wineries and cheese makers, see historic sights, and stop for cappuccino and local made pastries and taste creamery gelato. You will see who wins the red ravioli with their pasta rolling skills and who can win the coveted golden rolling pin for their skills and ability to pronounce the village names correctly. All in sync with a symphony of laughter and sharing new experiences with new and old friends.


On top of a hill facing Montepulciano, stands the medieval, historical centre, village of Montefollonico, in the province of Siena. Far from busy roads and from the usual tourist trail, the splendid isolation of Montefollonico is probably what makes it particularly charming and appealing. It is a fantastic medieval village, surrounded by 13th century walls that protect Montefollonico Castle. With its narrow, winding streets and its low, rustic houses, Montefollonico provides a genuine view of Tuscany. It is here that you will enjoy great cooking, memorable meals, and unlimited wine in our hidden village surrounded by rolling green hills.

It is only about halfway between Rome and Florence, 15 kilometers from the Valdichiana exit of the A1 Milan-Rome motorway (the Autosole) and only 10 minutes from the junction with the main road at Cassia. In the area you can find Pienza, a jewel of the Renaissance, Montepulciano, Cortona, Chiusi, Foiano, and cities of art such as Siena, Arezzo and Perugia.

Driving directions from "Autostrada del Sole" Milano-Napoli A1 (E35)

  • Exit Valdichiana
  • Go to Torrita di Siena
  • Subsequently, go to Montefollonico

Arrival by train

  • Siena-Chiusi line: Torrita di Siena station or Sinalunga.
  • Milan-Rome line: Terontola-Cortona station, or Chiusi Chianciano Terme for Torrita di Siena and subsequently for Montefollonico.
