This holiday means challenging yourself on the same hills and slopes many cycling legends trained on, including Bartali, Cipollini and Bettini. Tuscany is in fact a land of cyclists. From Agriturismo Il Molinello youll ride in the UNESCO world heritage site Val dOrcia, in the lunar landscape of Crete Senesi, among the vineyards of Chianti and Montalcino. You will walk along the corridors where the Chianti wine was invented, stroll in beautiful towns such as Siena, and rejoice experimenting the flavors of Tuscany with a hands-on cooking lesson with Elisa.

Rooms

Il Fico

This room has 19 square meters, and a ground floor. This room accommodates two people and has a bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom, and satellite television. Amenities: Wi-Fi, heating, and an electric kettle.

Il Ligustro

It has 14 square meters and a ground floor. This room accommodates two people and it has a bedroom with double bed and en-suite bathroom, satellite television. Amenities: Wi-Fi, heating, an espresso machine, and an electric kettle.

La Corte

This room accommodates two people and it has 20 square meters with double bed and en-suite bathroom located on two floors. Amenities: Wi-Fi, satellite television,heating, an espresso machine, and an electric kettle.

La Torre

This room has 25 square meters and a second floor. This room accommodates two to three people and it has a bedroom with double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Amenities: satellite television, Wi-Fi and wire internet, heating, and sofa bed for one person.

Apartments

Il Pini

Recently restored and elegantly furnished apartment, it is composed of one bedroom with double bed, living room with sofa bed for two persons, fireplace, open kitchen, and bathroom with shower (suitable also for disabled persons). The apartment is fully equipped with dishes, pots, and also with bedding, bath and table linen, heating, CD reader, and satellite television. It has a large private fenced garden.

Il Cipresso

It is the biggest apartment (140 square meters), being composed of three bedrooms with double beds (two of which have sofa bed for one extra person), a large and luminous living room, open kitchen, and three bathrooms with shower.

The apartment is fully equipped with dishes, pots, and also with bedding, bath and table linen, heating, and satellite television (in the living room and in two bedrooms), wireless internet access (and wire in two bedrooms), and its windows overlook the beautiful village of Serre di Rapolano and the evocative Sienese countryside. In mid and low seasons, the apartment is divided into two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms (La Corte and La Torre) and one apartment for two (Lo Scrittorio).

Il Gelso

Charming apartment located in the heart of the medieval building, it is composed of one bedroom with double bed, large living room with cooking area, double sofa bed, and a bathroom with shower. The apartment is fully equipped with dishes, pots, and also with bedding, bath and table linen, heating, television, and Wi-Fi.This apartment has 60 square meters, and accommodates from two to four people on the first floor.

Il Leccio

This apartment accommodates two people and it has 42 square meters and a ground floor. It is a completely restored green building, composed of a bedroom with double bed, living room with cooking area, and bathroom. The amenities available are satellite television in the bedroom, Wi-Fi, heating, and a small private fenced garden.

Il Melo

This apartment accommodates two people. It has 36 square meters and a ground floor. The bedroom has a double bed, kitchen, and a bathroom with shower. In front of the apartment there is a table and chairs for eating outside. The apartment is fully equipped with dishes, pots, and also with bedding, bath and table linen, heating, and satellite television.

Il Pomo

This apartment accommodates four people. It has 50 square meters and a ground floor. It is composed of two bedrooms with double beds, kitchen, and two bathrooms with showers. The amenities available are television in both bedrooms, heating, Wi-Fi, and a private fenced garden. In mid and low seasons, it is divided in one bedroom with bathroom (Il Ligustro) and one apartment for two (Il Melo).

L'Acacia

This apartment has 50 square meters and it accommodates four people. It is located on the ground floor and it offers a lot of privacy. LAcacia is composed of one bedroom with double bed, one bedroom with twin beds, kitchen with fireplace, and a bathroom with shower. The apartment is fully equipped with dishes, pots, and also with bedding, bath and table linen, heating, air conditioning (in the kitchen), CD reader, and satellite television. It has a large private fenced garden and Wi-Fi in the garden.

LAlbicocco

This apartment has 60 square meters and a ground floor. It accommodates four people and it is a green building composed of two bedrooms with double beds, living room with cooking area, and two bathrooms. The available amenities are television in both rooms, heating, Wi-Fi, private fenced garden in front of the pool, court with barbecue, and heating.

Day 1 - Asciano warm-up

You will get together at 12:30 in the Molinello Enoteca for lunch and a brief introduction talk. In the afternoon, after a bike fitting, you will ride around Asciano to a local brewery for a visit and a beer tasting.

Day 2 - Val di Chiana

Today you will ride along the Val di Chiana (with an optional extra loop) reaching Fattoria Santa Vittoria for a truly rustic, historical and organic feeling. The Val di Chiana is a huge fertile plain, bordering Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany.

Fattoria Santa Vittoria uses modern day equipment, but its set among old rooms and impressive old historical equipment. There you will visit the cellar, have lunch and a wine tasting. In the late afternoon at il Molinello with Alessandro, official ONAOO (Organizzazione Nazionale Assaggiatori Olio di Oliva) taster, you will have an olive oil tasting course.

Day 3 - Val DOrica

Today you will plunge into Val dOrcia, considered one of Italys wonders. You will stop in Pienza strolling in town and lunch on own. In the late afternoon, back at Il Molinello, Sandro (an Associazione Italiana sommelier) will teach you how to taste the main DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) wine produced in the Siena province. Dinner will be served during this course.

Day 4 - Rapolano Terme, Siena, Crete Senesi Loop

Today is a rest day! There is an optional loop ride along the Crete Senesi, the worlds most photographed panorama! For those who dont want to ride, there will be a morning at the spa and natural hot spring San Giovanni in Rapolano Terme. After a lunch on your own at the Terme di San Giovanni, there will be a shuttle to Siena. After a guided visit of the town, youll be able to walk around and have dinner on your own.

Day 5 - Chianti Classico

Today you ride through the famous Chianti Classico region. You will pass Castello di Brolio; Brolio was built about AD 1000 and owned by the monks of the Badia Fiorentina. You will stop for lunch in Gaiole in Chinati, the starting point of lEroica, and you will visit the vintage White Roads to browse a selection of artisanal products. In the late afternoon, return to Il Molinello for a three-hour hands-on cooking class, where you will create a complete menu, from appetizer to dessert, using only the freshest seasonal ingredients.

Day 6 - Montalcino

Your last ride, your last challenge, will lead you to Montalcino, the city of the famous wine Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). You will have a picnic lunch at Giuditta Parisis, one of your guides farmhouse, Nostra Vita, where the Parisis produce Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Farewell dinner at Castello di Modanella.

Day 7 - Arrivederci!

After breakfast at 09:00, Ciclismo Classico offers one group shuttle to Terontola train station from where you can connect to Florence and Rome.

They strive to serve whats local and in season, and they are flexible when it comes to accommodating specific dietary needs.

Breakfast

Having breakfast in Molinello means eating fresh food or food; bread and cakes are cooked using biological flours coming from the organic farm Podere Pereto in Rapolano Terme, biological eggs of chicken of Valdarno, slow food protection, and Livornesi). Il Molinello uses their own organic jams or they take them from the organic farm Lisa Angelina in Asciano; honey comes from Podere Pereto in Rapolano Terme; they also produce biological fresh fruit or they buy it in the farm Lisa Angelina in Asciano or Terra d'Arcoiris in Chianciano Terme.

Juices come from the organic farm Terra d'Arcoiris in Chianciano Terme; cold cuts are of their own production from animals in the wild bread by Podere Orciaia in Siena; cheese comes from local farms, like Vergelle and La Fonte. They are almost always biological, with raw milk. Organic cornflakes and cereal come from Podere Pereto in Rapolano Terme, yogurts and milk are produced in Tuscany. Il Molinello invites you to visit the above mentioned farms where they will be glad to guide you and invite you to join some tastings.

Dinner

Dinners are as much about conviviality as they are about fine cuisine. Dinners consist of several courses at fine restaurants and local trattorias, but at times, Ciclismo Classico also opts for a less formal pizza night.

Local farms

You are invited to visit the local farms in the area: farm Lisa Angelina in Asciano, Terra d'Arcoiris in Chianciano Terme, and cheese farms Vergelle and La Fonte. They will be glad to guide you and to invite you for some tastings.

San Giovanni

On day four, there will be an optional morning excursion to the spa and natural hot spring San Giovanni in Rapolano Terme.
