This is our third time staying at Château les Merles, but this time with a group of 42 family and friends to celebrate my 60 th birthday. Most of the group arrived on the Thursday before the party and we booked the Château and the three villas exclusively for both the Friday and Saturday nights. Judith helped us organise transport to St Emilion on the Friday and book La Terrasse Rouge for lunch. She organised a cake for both the Friday and the Saturday nights and helped us choose the DJ. It was not an easy task to organise a three day party remotely from Australia, but with Judith's attention to detail the party was a huge success. The guests have given wonderfully positive reviews of the food, the service , the staff, the accomodation and the really lovely ambience at Château les Merles. I was absolutely thrilled with my choice of venue. We will definitely return.

Chateau les Merles is a lovely honey coloured stone Chateau with an attractive courtyard ideal for dining outside in the summer or a relaxing aperitif. The welcome glass of champagne was much appreciated! As we were touring we only stayed one night but longer would be great. The hotel is historic with decor with a modern twist. The restaurant is very attractive partly lit by candles giving an atmospheric ambience to the excellent food and wine. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped. This is a delightfully quiet spot near Bergerac in the Dordogne valley and a great place to stay.

This is restaurant has great and interesting food in a lovely setting, with a huge log fire in winter. The presentation of the food was beautiful as well as delicious. There are some very unusual and fascinating dishes to choose from. Well worth a visit.

Staying very close by, we booked for dinner , excelent friendly service, delicious food and a great atmosphere, would defiantly come back and stay next time, to bring home some wonderful wines. The hotel is in with easy reach to lots of places so a good base for sightseeing.

Where do I start? Stayed here for a week for my best friends wedding. When we arrived we were so taken by how rustic and beautiful tis place was. We were then served welcome champagne which was beautiful and just what we needed after a 5 drive. We stayed with our friends in a villa for the first few days. The villa was very spacious and full of charm. The jewel in the crown was the steps down to a stunning pool area that states 'class' - The lining of the pool is not something I've seen before (jet black rubber) but feels quality and different (just like the chateau) - We ate in the restaurant on more than once occasion and the value for money and quality of food is sensational. We moved to our own room which was opposite the 2nd pool, our room was light and airy and the theme of the chateau filtered into the room (black & white).

The wedding day its self was special the team that looked after us all week need a big pat on the back - what a great team effort - whoever is leading the team - keep doing what your doing. The food, the wine and the entertainment were out of this world and I will remember my time here for the rest of my life. We will be back!
