Join this wonderful retreat in Spain! This retreat with yoga, meditation, and hiking activities, is thought for those who want to get away from routine and stress and at the same time they help to connect with a practice that allow a deep relaxation and a recharge of vital energy to improve their physical and mental health. You will enjoy meditation, yoga classes, meditative walks, kirtan, meditative hiking, and vegetarian cooking workshops.
During this holiday, you will stay either in a private or a shared room. The facilities at Casa Cuadrau are set up for the practice of the various course activities and provide a silent and peaceful setting which is ideal for concentration and going within.
The shared dormitory contains two dormitories of six people each one. One is a female dorm and other is a mixed dorm. Double rooms are available for people who come together, either couples, friends, or relatives. Casa Cuadrau does not offer the double rooms to share with participants who don’t know each other previously. Single rooms and also offered for those who want more privacy.
During this retreat, you will enjoy daily Hatha and Vinyasa yoga classes for all levels of practice. The classes are progressive with variations for different levels of practice and particular limitations are always offered. You will also experience daily meditation practices, three afternoon cooking workshops, meditative chanting and silent meditation sessions, amazing guided walks in nature, and one or two long trekking excursions.
You will also be invited to practice Karma yoga by helping with simple tasks of the house as bringing water from the fountain, drying dishes, and other related activities. You will also experience "satsang", which means in Sanskrit, "sat" means truth and "sang" means group or community, a time to share your concerns, questions, doubts, and also to meditate together to sing contemplating the stars or around a fire.
All activities are optional and can be modified to suit the group. To get the most out of your stay, it is recommended that you participate in all scheduled activities. The schedule may vary slightly during the week.
These daily 90-minute meditative walk in nature will open your senses and develop your mindfulness. At least once a week will be entirely dedicated to meditative trekking, starting just after breakfast and coming back for dinner. It is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the wonders of the the Ordesa National Park or surrounding areas. Swim in the river, meditate, or simply relax in nature. Those days, because of the excursion, there will be a gentle yoga class in the afternoon. If the weather allows it, you will enjoy a long excursion with snowshoes.
During this hikes, you will learn how to be transparent and let everything flow freely without interfering mentally or emotionally, just being present. you will connect with who you are to find the right step, your own rhythm, and pace. You will feel everything that happens inside and outside of you and learn to listen to the silence, pay attention to the action of walking and everything which is involved physically; movement, breathing, and sensations. You will also listen to your body, change your habits, and fill yourself with energy.
During this workshops, you will learn how to cook dishes and sweets for special occasions, such as Christmas or other celebrations. What you will learn will not only be useful for the holidays, you will also share tricks to give everyday dishes a creative touch and make ordinary life something extraordinary.
Vegetarian cuisine can be simple and fit your taste buds. No need to use endless exotic products to eat well. You will be surrounded by good quality ingredients, traditional in their cuisine that can easily appeal to everyone. Therefore, you will cook as far as possible with organic products, local, and in season.
The workshop will consist of three sessions of three hours each, where you will learn first how to prepare starters, sauces, and condiments, then main courses, and finally festive desserts and sweets. If you enjoyed the food at Casa Cuadrau, now you will have the opportunity to learn how to cook like them. You will cook with presence and developing sensitivity and awareness in the art of cooking.
Every day from the end of the evening satsang until next day’s lunch, you will cultivate the joyful silence in the house. This deep silence is very calming for the mind and allows you to be in peace and listen deeply to yourself. You will have a restful sleep and the next day enjoy the silence with mental clarity for your asana practice, meditation, and the nourishing experience of a silent mindful meal, at least once a day. Each person participating in this period of joyful silence will be supporting each other in the practice.
Amazing guided walks in nature and one or two long trekking excursions are included in this retreat. Once or twice a week, they offer a half day excursion; a trekking tour in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park or surroundings with a swim in the river, breathing exercises (pranayama), and a meditation session in the nature.
These meditative walks are ideal for a full day in contact with the environment, your body, breath, and movement. The silent walks will allow you to enter a natural state of calm. They open your consciousness and your senses and help you to develop deep interest and concentration in all around you, so you can experience the connection with life and nature.
This retreat will be held at Casa Cuadrau in Vio, Spain. Vio is a village at the doors of the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park in the Spanish Pyrenees located about 40 minutes drive from Ainsa (Huesca).
The splendid view of Monte Perdido, Añisclo Canyon (Cañón de Añisclo) and Sestrales to the north, Peña Montañesa to the east and the San Pietro Mountains to the south, make this location one of the most beautiful in the Spanish Pyrenees.
During this holiday, you will enjoy three daily delicious and locally sourced vegetarian meals along with three afternoon cooking workshops. At Casa Cuadrau, the food is very important to the way they live and they love to practice mindful eating. All meals are based on fresh, and as far as possible, local, seasonal, and organic produce.
The breakfast varies according to the season and the program but typically includes fruit, wholegrain breads, porridge, homemade yogurt (sheep, goat or cow), smoothies, and herbal teas. The lunch and dinner are a celebration of the simple luxury of fresh ingredients and the abundance of nature.
They typically serve cooked grains and pulses, fresh vegetables, raw salads and dishes, and special desserts. With the exception of some herbal teas and some bread, all food and drinks are made on the site with love and care. The food has proved to be highly satisfying both for discerning vegetarian diners and for those people who may be new to vegetarian food.
During your free time, you may explore the location, visit some local places of interests and attractions on your own, book a Thai yoga massage, enjoy a sound healing massage with Tibetan bowls, or simply relax at the accommodation. Casa Cuadrau Yoga Art & Nature Retreats recommends that you visit Ainsa, a beautiful medieval town. You can enjoy the old town and castle of Ainsa, the Eco Museum, the Geopark, the food, and more.

There is a direct shuttle service between Barcelona and Casa Cuadrau. A minimum number of people is needed for it to run. The price of shuttle service is about 325 EUR per trip.
