This was our first visit to the Cape Lodge Restaurant, and our goal was to have a fine dining experience in the Margaret River region for dinner. This, we have found to be a supremely difficult task because 90% of the establishments seem to shut down after 5PM and the ones which remain tend to be pretentious, overly expensive and/or serve ordinary food.
So on arrival at Cape Lodge, we chose the 4-course menu and settled in to be pleasantly surprised. Starting from the home made olive bread, through to the apple-shaped chicken liver parfait in plum jelly, to the rare smoked venison and the chef's signature dish - the chocolate mousse, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream dessert, we were impressed at every turn. The food was complimented by thoughtful and respectful service reminiscent of the best restaurants in Australia. And what a location! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our time at Cape Lodge. Full compliments to the chef and team. We will be back for sure.
