"A retreat at Caimeli is close to what it must feel like to be in heaven. The food is just amazing. James treats cooking like an art and is extremely skilled at it. He uses local, organic, seasonal produce and makes everything from scratch. We dined on home-made Middle Eastern dips, Asian soups, European desserts and home-made Italian lasagna (vegetarian, of course!). Then there is the fresh air and sound of birds. Situated far from the road, you don't hear anything but nature. At night time, everything is completely quiet and after a day of yoga, hiking, meditating, eating nourishing food, and lazing around with a book on the lawn - you sleep like a baby (or an exhausted adult, retreating from the world). It's a really great experience. The only word of warning I have is that in spring and autumn, the house is still quite cold from the winter. So, bring your warm layers with you!"

"I attended the Oregonian Pilates retreat at Caimeli. Fall is the perfect time to visit this area of Umbria. Our host James went above and beyond our expectations. We plan to visit again; the accommodations, culinary presentations, and flavors were over the top. Our host was very helpful in giving us direction in the immediate area and other parts of Italy to visit."

"I spent three days at a yoga retreat at Caimeli, a beautiful location in Umbertide. I loved it: beautiful view, super refined rooms, and outdoor details. But mostly the owner, James, and his cooking: a pampering experience."

"The first weekend of October, I joined a three full day yoga retreat in beautiful Caimeli and, despite the hectic daily routine life that followed since those days, I can still feel the benefits of the experience and of this amazing place. In fact, I realized on my way home on Sunday, not only the good yoga, the great teacher, the nice company, and the amazing massages made the weekend unique. Caimeli is filled with its own unique energy and James the owner allows you to discover it with your own times. I must say, the biggest surprise, in fact, was him and his delicious recipes. As one of the girls was vegan James prepared special recipes and every meal was a pleasant new surprise. We fell in love with his cuisine and while practicing we could smell it... we could not wait to know what he had prepared! (I want to go back to learn how to cook vegan food, a real new world to me). The location is strategic, you are literally in the middle of the greener country and the only things you hear are birds, bees, roosters, horses... The village is not far and I am sure a pleasant walk can take you there in no more than 20 minutes. The casale is big, comfortable, clean with simple but stylish and essential furniture. Shower is great as well as the beds. It rained the whole time and it was humid outside, but still the place was super cozy. On the last day the sun came out and I can still see James waving goodbye to us with sweet Tia (the smiling dog!) seating next to him. Grazie, James, I will surely be back!"

"Amazing experience at the Sanctuary by Caimeli. James is a great host and incredible cook, he prepared delicious meals taking care to satisfy every sort of request (Vegan diets etc) the food was prepared with love and I had an extraordinary culinary experience, tasting things I had never eaten in my life. Fell in love with the hummus, the zucchini spaghetti, and so much more. The house is lovely, the rooms are new, clean and designed with great taste, the yoga room is breathtaking overlooking lavender fields and an infinity pool surrounded by hills of green. Had an amazing time, dreaming of organizing a yoga retreat here soon. The Yoga was superb thanks to Bon Chan, we had Thai massage also offered by Mirko, the food beyond expectations a real surprise an incredible weekend all together! Thanks James I loved your place and the energy it has, you were so nice and I wish I was still there."

"I am a yoga teacher based in Rome. The reason why I was at Caimeli is to run my yoga retreat there. The location and scenery just ideal and beautiful. The space where we practise yoga are essence, calm and humble, props and mat are provided and good quality. Everyone appreciated the smell of the lavender right next to the swimming pool. Rooms are simple but sweet. You can't complain about insects as they are part of the nature and country side. We required vegetarian and vegan meals, wow! They were so creative and yummy."

"Amazing yoga holiday with Kat and James! This is truly one of the most beautiful amazing places I have ever been. I loved my visit here where I sampled local food and wines that were out of this world. James made me feel very welcome and the house is absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed the yoga with Kat in the rustic barn next to the beautiful pool every day. I would 100% recommend this amazing place and would like to return some day!"

Katherine Smith is an incredible teacher and fabulous human but put her in Caimeli with James' hosting and terrific company and you are on your way to heaven. "Kat is genuinely lovely, great fun, and all-around excellent. I love her yoga classes, which are somehow deeply energizing, empowering, and calming all at once. I just wish she were based in my local yoga studio or at least on podcast tap (hint hint). We all spent the retreat raving about her behind her back, so I am glad to be able to write this so that she knows what we were saying!"

"We would like to thank you so much for the most wonderful holiday location that we could have wished for. We could not believe our eyes when we arrived. It felt as though we had arrived in heaven. We had the most fantastic time and the gardener was kind enough to give us some of your produce of which we thoroughly enjoyed. We have taken many photos and videos, not only so we can remember this wonderful place, but also to recommend it to others. It was so hard to leave here, but thank you so much again."

"I have just returned from a week-long yoga holiday at Caimeli and wish I could have stayed longer. The place is simply amazing. A couple of secluded old, renovated stone houses in the hills of Umbria, surrounded by olive trees, lavender, and forest. After a pretty hectic time, I felt instantly relaxed and very at peace in this little paradise. The yoga hall is beautiful, a renovated old barn that looks over an infinity pool and a lush valley. The main house itself, where I stayed in a spacious room that opens onto a terrace, is also tastefully renovated and very welcoming. James, the owner, looked after us as if we were family or friends, he cooked amazing vegetarian meals for us, took us to town in his car, organized tours, cooking classes, and other activities for those who were interested in them and was generally very accommodating and friendly. His 12-year-old dog is one of the friendliest and most easygoing dogs I have ever met and added to the feeling that we were all like one big family. I also loved Catie Foroughi, our yoga teacher. Working with her on handstands, arm balances, and backbends was a beautiful challenge and very inspiring. She is a dedicated, friendly, and very talented teacher who knows how to tailor her course so it fits everyone, no matter what level they are at with their yoga practice. I only just returned from Caimeli yesterday, but I am already looking at when I can return next to this amazing place. Thank you, James and Catie, for making my week there so wonderful."

"We visited Caimeli as part of a yoga retreat and had an amazing time. The retreat itself is in beautiful surroundings approximately 2.5 hours from Rome. During our stay, we went to Tuscany to do a wine tasting (which I fully recommend), plus we were close to the nearby town, Umbertide, which is definitely worth a visit. The accommodation was good. We stayed in the separate farmhouse building and had a good-sized room with en-suite. We had a kitchen and living room area, which we could have used but did not need to as James cooked breakfast and an evening meal for us all in the main house. The food was amazing. I cannot recommend it enough, made with fresh ingredients and cooked by James daily. Each evening meal was three courses. My personal favorite was the handmade gnocchi and the homemade panna cotta (it was the best I have ever tasted). There was fresh fruit available all day, along with a selection of hot drinks. James was always offering to take people to town, wine tasting, etc. We did not need to as we had hired a car but the offer was always there. Now on to the yoga, Catie was awesome! A great teacher, she catered for everyone's individual ability at all different levels. My boyfriend is more advanced than me at yoga and I was worried that I would not be able to keep up, but Catie would give different options for each move and you are able to stick with the beginner level or advance further depending on capability. Every day, Catie would ask us all what we wanted to work on and would add these into the classes. My boyfriend wanted to learn more around handstands and had lots of questions, which Catie would answer throughout the class and also after the classes, too. I found Catie to be incredibly skilled at her role, able to demonstrate moves, talk people through them, and she made everyone feel welcome and at ease. I am definitely planning a second retreat. Thank you to Catie and James for an excellent retreat, I have come home feeling relaxed and peaceful."

"I have just returned from a yoga retreat at Azienda Agraria Caimeli Yoga Retreat and I am feeling suitably relaxed and stress free! The location is beautiful and peaceful. The house and yoga shala are homely and well equipped, and the swimming pool is fantastic. James is the perfect host, not only did he cook all of the wonderful meals but took us sightseeing, on a trip to an outdoor cinema and to a friend's house for wine tasting and roast lamb! Nothing was too much trouble and it felt as though I was spending the week with friends. I hope to return soon."

"This was my third stay at Caimeli. It is one of my favorite places on the planet, beautiful and peaceful. There is nothing quite as perfect as an early morning cup of coffee watching the sunrise from the poolside yoga studio or sipping a glass of red Umbrian wine on the terrace looking out on the Umbrian hills. I have stayed in the guesthouse with my family. I have also brought a retreat of 16 women from our book club. All the trips have been great. There are many beautiful towns to explore or just relax and read, a perfect place to unplug. Thanks, James, for a wonderful stay!"

"Caimeli really is a magical place. Words cannot completely describe the place. I have done three different yoga retreats here and all were spectacular. We are coming back in September. The property works perfect, the separate yoga studio that overlooks the pool and countryside, the simplistic renovated farmhouse all set in the beautiful Umbrian countryside. I have had nothing but great communication and relationship with the owner, James. Not only has he been very accommodating with the rental and details relating to the property, he has gone out of his way to introduce me to local people and vendors for our guests to enjoy. He promptly answers every single question (and I have had a lot of them). We will definitely be back and I would strongly encourage others to experience all that Caimeli has to offer."

"There are places on earth that are so magical, that you feel the need to keep them secret. But I believe that sharing is caring and so I am happy to share my experience about Caimeli. I stayed over an extended weekend with a group of 10 people to do a yoga and running retreat. The two villas are beautiful designed. Most of the double rooms have their own bathrooms, which are all clean and modern. You have lots of space to chill and relax, not only inside but also on one of the many terraces or balconies. The hotspot is surely at the swimming pool with the mind-blowing view on the green lush nature of Umbria. Our wonderful and charming Italian chef, Rosa, was preparing us a rich veggie brunch with extraordinary bits and bites, such as quiche with ginger or curcuma scrambled eggs. All was very delicious and prepared with love. James, the owner of the house, was also cooking for us one day. James is a great host and a great chef as well; he cares for his guests and makes sure to give enough room for them as well. You will most certainly find him in his kitchen, where he prepares all food by himself. The door of the kitchen and the fridge was always open during the day for little refreshments. We had fresh fruits, coffee, and tea during the day; and there was a light snack for lunch something like salads or quiche. The dinner menu was absolutely fantastic. We had homemade gnocchi, beans with vegetables, or veggie burgers. People with food incompatibility received a special diet plan. All provided food at Caimeli serves 100% organic and veggie food, if you want to go vegan you can get a vegan version of the menu (soy yoghurt and milk are provided). If you do not want to skip meat, you can prepare it in the kitchen in the guesthouse for yourself. The property itself is beautiful. Caimeli lies hidden in lush nature surrounded by olive plantations. Wherever you walk or sit, you will always be listening to the sound of nature. There is a separate yoga house with a fully equipped yoga room, which can easily have 15 students practicing. In fact, this is one of the most precious places I have done yoga in my life so far. The only thing that is a bit challenging was the cold floor, which will be cooling in the summer months. If you open the door of the yoga room, you face the green hills and the olive trees; this is peace. There is almost no better place to practice yoga, this space is unique. We were doing our afternoon Yin yoga session directly next to the swimming pool under the sky to get into the vibes of beautiful Umbria. I can truly say that Caimeli is the fantastic spot to do a yoga retreat! Things to remember: Caimeli is really hidden, make sure to ask James, the owner of the house, for directions in order to find it, the internet connection at Caimeli did not work really well, but there is free Wi-Fi in Umbertide, which is a five-minute drive downhill away. You are allowed to bring your dog, but make sure to clean the poo on the lawn afterwards. New mats, blocks, and belts can be found in the yoga room. James is offering cooking classes and Vespa tours, which are highly recommended by his guests."

"Caimeli is my personal oasis of serenity and super yummy cuisine. Host James Feinberg is an accomplished and creative cook. House and garden are neatly cared of and the pool decorated with lavender is a wonderful place for a time out in the sun. The rooms in the renovated stone house are beautiful in their Mediterranean simplicity with comfortable mattresses. The yoga shala with a huge door that opens to the pool and the beautiful green valley is the perfect asana spot. After yoga, you will have an opulent breakfast buffet with James' delicious creations and can stroll on to the many sightseeing spots around Caimeli, like Perugia, Gubbio, Assissi, Umbertide, and the beautiful landscapes and hiking trails of Umbria. In autumn, you will have a marvelous truffle dinner or see the chocolate festival in Perugia. In summer, the Jazz festival of Umbria. Much more to say and see, but go there and see and feel yourself!"

"I have been to Caimeli four times, or are they five? Caimeli has been the venue for three yoga holidays and there are many reasons why we keep coming back and it is not only the luscious fig trees. James Feinberg is a brilliant host and has created a beautiful venue, surrounded by trees, butterflies, and luscious organic life. I love it. It is close to London, only 30 minutes from Perugia airport, and is pure nature with a swimming pool, amazing yoga studio, and lovely authentic rooms. It is a wonderful venue and James is a very kind host and very helpful to all the guests."

"I had an incredible experience with Catie's week long yoga retreat at Caimeli in September, 2014. In terms of the facilities, they are really great. You are on an olive plantation in the Italian Umbrian countryside. Caimeli has comfortable single beds and really nice bathrooms. There is a communal area for eating, which we did every night there with our host, James, making very tasty and healthy veggie meals. The yoga room is top notch - it is in a several hundred-year-old barn that has been updated with a very nice wood floor and had all the items necessary for our yoga retreat during the morning and afternoon sessions. There is even equipment and the ability to do Aerial yoga, although that was not our focus. The yoga area is in front of an infinity pool, with a gorgeous view of the Umbrian countryside. Just an idyllic place to have a retreat for several days. Catie, our instructor, was incredible. Very patient but also trying to make us do our best. She went through basic yoga steps every morning (albeit a vigorous workout) shifting to our handstand focus in the afternoon. She is quite inspirational and lives immersed in a true yogini way. Very worth it and would not hesitate to do it again."

"This last week in Caimeli was wonderful. Each of us found what we were looking for. I loved exploring some of the historic sites in the area, Perugia, Assisi, and Gubbi; and going on long walks on and around Caimeli. Damian very much enjoyed tennis, swimming, and running (which the views made so unique). The little ones lived in their bathing suits and had no shortage of adventures among the olives and fig trees. With delicious Italian foods, Umbertide had to offer and the mix of rustic feeling and modern comfort, make this place so special. The memory of the view onto a landscape basically untouched by civilization will be a pleasure while passing through the winter in Germany. Thank you very much for everything."
