Day 2: Kuching - Annah Rais Bidayuh longhouse

Pick-up up at 08:00 and check out from the hotel.

Visit to Semenggoh wildlife center, home the totally protected orang utan (known as the wild-men of Borneo). Catch a glimpse of these unique apes displaying their acrobatic skills swinging from tree to tree, coming down for the feeding by 09:00.

An hour drive from the city through beautiful countryside covered with lush vegetation and dotted with rubber estates, pepper gardens and paddy fields where you reach Annah Rais longhouse, a Bidayuh (land Dayak) longhouse of 60 doors, one of the best-preserved in Borneo and built almost entirely of bamboo.

There is also a thriving tribal community where you can meet and interact with the residents, observe them going about their everyday tasks, and appreciate the superb quality of their traditional handicrafts.

Upon arrival at Annah Rais longhouse, proceed for the homestay and have lunch with the family.

After lunch, proceed for short jungle trekking to see the flora and fauna hot spring site for jungle spa swimming in the crystal clear water.

On the way back, go to the farm and collect bamboo for cooking bamboo chicken, jungle ferns, padi fields, pepper farm, among others.

Put on costume and join in the amazing dances with gong music.

Day 3: Bako National Park

This morning, you will bid farewell to the Bidayuh people.

Travel to Bako jetty to visit Bako National Park - this park has been protected since 1957: the animals have become quite tame.

You will return late in the afternoon to Kuching.

Visit of Bako National Park

This retreat will take place in one of the greenest regions of Malaysia. One of your visits will be at the Bako National Park. There is a wide range of bird life, with both inland and sea birds represented. The park has an amazing variety of habitats in a small area, all within a days walk of park. Well laid-out trails lead through this strange world to small streams and waterfalls, small secluded beaches, and to lookout with views over the forest and the coast. Testimonials

  • Review by a traveler from Pitlochry, UK

"Wonderful tour company. We enquired about a day tour from Miri to Brunei the day before we wanted to go and got a very quick response saying that it would be no problem and the guide would pick us up in our hotel lobby at 8 a.m. the next day.For 500 RM we had a ten-hour tour with an English speaking guide all to ourselves, transportation, entry fees to all sites visited, and an 'eat as much as you like' buffet lunch. The guide was very informative and friendly, and very considerate about suggesting toilet stops etc. I would highly recommend this company for both service and value for money."

"A comprehensive tour package at a very competitive price. This tour package was not on TripAdvisor, so we had great trepidation when booking our summer holiday in Borneo. However, we were well looked after from the moment we got off from Miri Airport to returning to Kota Kinabalu airport after 12 nights of touring around Borneo. The price tag was considerably cheaper than many of the UK based companies and yet we had access to a wide range of activities. The tour operator was well organized. The great advantage was that we could book our own itinerary. Only drawback was that some of the hotels were towards the cheaper end, but we did anticipate that. Overall very happy, hence this first post on TripAdvisor to spread the message."

"Dear Garry and Richard, we are almost boarding our plane back to Amsterdam. Just wanted to thank you again for your help and organization. The trip back from Semporna went smoothly, no late drivers and flat tires! We had a great holiday in Borneo and will probably head back soon."

"We were very satisfied from our trip and from the services provided by the Borneo Tropical adventure agency. It was a great experience and we met many interesting people. Our guides were really interesting and really friendly. We were four people with one guide but at booking, we were informed that we could be up to 10 people. For the price we paid, the value for money was good."
