During this retreat, you will be staying at Borgo Pianello in Bologna, Italy. The hotel is beautifully located in the heart of Tosco-Emiliano Apennines, it is just over an hour drive from Bologna, Florence, and Modena. The historic Borgo Pianello is the ideal place to spend your holidays in total relaxation, surrounded by greenery and nature. Moreover, the village also has a private parking, a 10,000 square-foot garden, barbecue areas, and a private pool with solarium.

The accommodation is on a private and shared room basis, the rooms are able to accommodate up to 60 people, it has a kitchen, services, and giant screen. The historic manor house and the apartments are furnished with great love and cared for in the smallest details, it has a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, TV, satellite radio, and Wi-Fi internet connection. It is the perfect place for you to enjoy your holiday in total freedom and autonomy.

  • Take your time to relax and enjoy a real Italian lunch.
  • Day 3 - Monday
  • Cooking class.
  • Head into the kitchen of the Borgo with Chef Stefania for your first hands-on cooking class.
  • Work alongside Stefania to prepare some of the most popular Bologna’s dishes: handmande pasta tagliatelle, ragu alla bolognese sauce, tortelloni and fior di latte.
  • Aperitif and lunch (appetizer, first course, main course, dessert and wine tasting included).

Day 4 - Tuesday

  • Cooking class: pizza day.
  • You will discover the perfect ingredients to prepare a real Italian pizza and tiramisu and you will cook your own pizza in a firewood oven.
  • Aperitif, lunch and wine tasting included.

Day 5 - Wednesday

  • Morning: 2.5 hours of Italian language class.
  • Afternoon: 2.5 hours of Italian language class.
  • Dinner in gourmet restaurant.

Day 6 - Thursday

  • Morning: 2.5 hours of Italian language class.
  • Afternoon: 2.5 hours of Italian language class.
  • Dinner in gourmet restaurant.

The Regional Parks of the Corno alle Scale and Frignano

The Regional Parks is the largest and most suggestive green oases of the Emilia-Romagna Region. It hosts many wildlife and vegetation species, along with great activities such as walking, trips, MTB, as well as a spontaneous collection of mushrooms and cranberries.

The Dardagna River

From Borgo Pianello, you can arrive at the river Dardagna. There is a wonderful mountain stream that takes you from the hills of the Corno alle Scale, down to the valley with imposing and natural waterfalls. Trout sports fishing is practiced during the summer months and the temperature allows you to enjoy a pleasant bath in its limpid waters.

Historical villages and sanctuaries

In the surroundings of Borgo Pianello are Monteacuto, Castelluccio, and Pianaccio. These ancient mountain villages are still perfectly preserved and made of autochthonous stone, such as the Sanctuary of Madonna dell'Acero, the ancient and famous witness of the Middle Ages, the Sanctuary of Madonna del Beech; Poggiolforato, Farnè, House Flakes, and many other small settlements.

Horn of the Stairs and of the Cimone

During the winter season, it is possible to ski either on the Horn of the Moon and on Mount Cimone. Borgo Pianello is halfway between the two ski resorts of the Apennines, it is about 20 minutes away.

Driving directions from Bologna

  • Motorway A1 towards Florence, exit Sasso Marconi.
  • Follow the direction of Sasso Marconi and take the Via Porrettana road to Silla. Then continue for Gaggio Montano and Querciola, until you reach Rocca Corneta.

Driving directions from Firenze

  • A11 motorway towards Pisa, exit Pistoia.
  • From Pistoia, follow the signs for Porretta Terme. Then continue for Gaggio Montano and Querciola, until you reach Rocca Corneta.

Driving directions from Milan

  • Motorway A1 direction Bologna, exit Modena Sud.
  • Follow direction Vignola, drive through Fondano Panaro until Fanano. Then continue towards Lizzano in Belvedere and then to Rocca Corneta.
