For this holiday, you will have the chance to sample the wines and liquors of the region with wine makers of Regua and Oporto and also, drift down the Douro River, from Regua on a six-hour journey riverboat, following the river trail used by the port wine producers to transport barrels of port wine to the aging rooms in the port city of Oporto. Not only will you enjoy wine here, but you will also be served with lunch.
Get along and visit the culinary schools, where the future generation of culinary artists learn from the greatest chefs of Portugal to fuse traditional cuisine, with contemporary ingredients, creating flavors and presentations of great beauty to the palate, and the aesthetic senses. You will enjoy a night visit to the Rupestrian grotto paintings with a specialized guide and also visit to the exceptionally preserved Roman Historic Site in Conimbriga.
You will also experience a traditional family style meal at Rio Maior organic farm, while meeting with the farmer. Join a hands-on break making with traditional bakers located in a small village setting and visit an important salt mine significant during the Roman and early Portugal times.
