"When you tour with Bluone, you are treated like family and the Royal Family at the same time! Our first tour with Bluone was a week in Bologna and it is truly one of our fondest memories. The cooking classes, visits to the market, road trips to cheese and balsamic vinegar producers were amazing but the best was dinner with Rafaella and her family. We recently returned from our second tour this time to the Puglia region with Marcello. Every day of the seven-day itinerary was filled with glimpses into the ways of this region from the history of the beautiful whitewashed towns, the architecture of homes, agriturismo, food and wine. If you are a foodie (especially for Italian cuisine) you must join Bluone on this tour. Through their connections and superb planning, you will be invited to outstanding wine tastings, lunches and dinners and cooking classes which will be beyond your wildest dreams - truly delicious, informative and great fun! Do not waste your money on cookie cutter tours with lots of people on a bus offered by other companies. Come and be one of the family with Bluone. We hope to be back with them soon!"

"This was our third tour with Bluone and once again it was as close to perfect as a vacation could be, save a bit of rain. But even that didn't dampen our spirits - we just ate! (and drank). Marcello (owner of Bluone) booked us into the lovely Villa Soligo, where the owner graciously offered s a glass of the house Prosecco within minutes of our arrival. Our room was great, the daily breakfast exactly right and the grounds lovely. The villa had a pool for relaxing time, but Marcello kept us busy with tours and tastings at Prosecco wineries both big and small - we especially loved the small, family owned wineries. For my fellow geographically challenged Americans, we may forget that northern Italy is so close to the Alps. One vinter answered my question about how grapes (and tropical looking foliage!) grow at this elevation by explaining hat the Apls block the cold air from eastern Europe, creating a most delightful micro-climate in this region. Perfect for growing glara, the grape of Prosecco and perfect for and a very delightful food and wine tour. As usual, Marcello hired a local professional driver, and had a local tour guide meet us in each town we visited. The restaurants were superb. Our farewell dinner was at a restaurant very near the villa, and after experiencing the wonderful food and one of the most exquisite deserts ever, I believe the story that that Marcello Mastrioni traveled there from Roma for the fine cuisine. This was a delightful trip, filled with charming surprises, expert guidance and wonderful food. Highly recommend!"

"Last fall I contacted Bluone in order to organize a personalized private tour in Emilia Romagna for my family. I had the pleasure of previously traveling with Marcello and his talented daughter Francesca on a cooking tour in Le Marche. That experience made me confident in Bluone's ability to satisfy my family's varied interests. Our objectives were to tour small, family operated producers of Parmigiano-Reggiano, prosciutto and balsamico and to visit the area's iconic Ferrari and Lamborghini factories and museums. Beginning with his selection of Bologna's Hotel Cappello Rosso, every aspect of our itinerary was managed perfectly. Marcello's knowledge, attention to detail and his numerous personal contacts make traveling with Bluone very special. Thank you Marcello for making our family's days in Emilia Romagna memorable. Fino all presume volta... yes, there will be a next time!"

"We went on the Food and Culinary Summer Adventure in Bologna and it was amazing! Marcello was extremely welcoming and ensured that wherever we went, we had a very special experience. He organized well-planned excursions for each day that we would never have planned ourselves, and made sure we never left the table hungry! It was such an unforgettable experience getting to see the Parmigiano Reggiano factory and the Modena balsamic factory villa, and meeting all the individuals who Marcello has formed friendships with over the years. Shopping at the market and cooking with Rafaella was so much fun, and we cannot wait to make all the recipes again. The trip enabled us to discover things and see parts of the countryside you would never be able to find on your own. Thank you Marcello and Rafaella for inviting us into your home and making us feel like part of the family! - Lisa, Mallory, and Kelly."

"We love visiting Bologna- this was our fourth time there- and we have done several tours with Bluone over the past 7 years. This time we home-based in Bologna with a couple of day trips by train. Since we continue to be completely enamored with the food and wine of the Emilia Romagna region, we again joined Raffaella's tour of the Bologna market. It is an absolute feast for all the senses! Raffaella is a native and quite the expert on the culinary delights of the area. We enjoyed the "refresher" on insights of how to select the best balsamico, Parmigiano Reggiano, prosciutto, pasta, etc.- and what makes them so special. We had a lovely lunch/tasting of meats and cheeses and wine in the city center, followed by some of the best gelato I have ever eaten! Bluone continues to educate and delight. Such a fun day!"

"I chose Bluone based on the great reviews and the custom tour options they describe on their website. I wanted an experience that focused on the food, the wine, the people and the history of Bologna and Emilia Romagna. Marcello and Rafaella delivered with a custom tour that exceeded my expectations! I gave them some basic information about what I desired and they created an itinerary that still has me smiling and longing to return! My trip started with a 4-day stay at Casatori, Marcello and Raffaella's rental apartment in Bologna. A short walk from Bologna's city centre, Casatori offers the true essence of living in Bologna. You walk out the door and you are instantly immersed in the excitement of Bologna and all that it has to offer! Stay there if you have the chance! Raffaella's market tour was definitely a highlight and although my knowledge of food is well above average, I walked away knowing so much more. For the second leg of the trip, Marcello and Raffaella made arrangements to stay at Hotel Al Cappello Rosso, a great boutique hotel steps away from Piazza Maggiore. All my tour time was spent with Marcello at this point and it was fantastic! A visit to an organic herb farm, a cooking class and dinner in the hills of Emilia Romagna at a farmhouse. Stops in Parma at a Parmagiano - Reggiano producer, Modena at a producer of Balsamico Tradizionale, lunch and dinner at off the grid restaurants where the locals eat, a small family winery visit and a great stop at a producer of Culatello. Their knowledge of Emilia Romagana and the passion they have for their work makes the experience exceptional! They know and are friends of the people at the places we visited making the experience extremely easy and comfortable. I left feeling like I had made two good friends. What a great experience! Thank you Marcello and Rafaella! I will be back!"

"Raffaella and Marcello have done it again! They introduced their newest Bluone tour to the Veneto region and it is one of their best tours so far. We tasted Prosecco wines produced in small family wineries that were so wonderful, I would have ordered cases to be shipped home, but these small wineries don't have enough production to justify shipping. The area is one of the most beautiful places I have visited so far, and that includes Bluone's tour of Piemonte. Hills and valleys covered with grape vines that have to be harvested by hand because the land is so steep. Marcello did his usual in-depth research, finding out-of-the-way places to enjoy the local cuisine. We even had a hands-on cooking class in one of the larger Prosecco wineries. All this plus exploring several small and large towns, Treviso being my favourite. We were treated to a latteria visit and lesson on how to taste cheeses. It was a busy week. My favourite part of joining Bluone tours is that from the time you arrive at the pick-up location until Marcello delivers you to your train, bus or airport at the end of your beautiful week, you are taken care of totally. Marcello, Raffaella, Francesca, Emanuele and Tommaso have become part of my very own family."

"Over the years we have visited many parts of Italy, and we always find ourselves wanting to return, but no Italian region has moved us more than Piemonte. And seeing it with Marcello from Bluone was a pure delight! As we kept saying throughout our trip, we felt like we were in the most beautiful painting or picture, the scenery is just stunning! This was not our first experience with Bluone, we had a wonderful day with Marcello, Rafaella and Franscesca in Bologna several years ago, so when we turned our eyes to visiting Piemonte we turned to Bluone and are very, very happy that we did! Our greeting and reunion with Marcello in Torino was like being welcomed back by family. Both the accommodations in Torino and Dogliani (Piemonte wine country) were exquisite. Each day the wines and meals got better and better, which is hard to believe because we never, ever had a bad meal during our trip. We visited several wineries but the highlights were the smaller family run wineries where we sat down to meals and cooking lessons with the winemakers and their families. This "tour" really didn't feel like a tour at all, but like a visit to extended family members, we were so warmly welcomed into each home. And the picnic lunch under the shade of trees with the truffle hunter and his family where we ate homemade local specialties made by his family was another moment we will not soon forget. This trip has us yearning to return to Piemonte!"
