During your visit, you will be staying in a charming 4-star hotel in the countryside, in the small medieval town of Bevagna.

Day 1, Sunday - Getting settled in

  • Your guides will meet you at the Foligno train station and provide you with a private transfer to your accommodation.
  • Once settled, you will go on a walking tour of the historic Bevagna center and enjoy wine and an aperitif in the beautiful piazza.
  • In the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner together at an astounding Italian countryside restaurant that is off the beaten path, where you will be served customary, local dishes.

Day 2, Monday - Wine and extra virgin olive oil tasting and cooking class

  • The Arnaldo Caprai winery will be your first stop on Monday morning. There, you will taste their Sagrantino wine, which is regarded as one of the finest red wines of Italy.
  • Afterwards, you will have lunch in Trevi at a distinctive restaurant and then visit an extra virgin olive oil mill where we you can see how the oil is produced and have a chance to taste it.
  • The rest of the day will be free to enjoy at your own leisure, until the cooking class starts in the late afternoon, followed by a delectable dinner.

Day 3, Tuesday - Castelluccio plan, a stroll through Norcia, and dinner at a great trattoria

  • On Tuesday morning, you will drive to the Plan of Castelluccio, a high plain where Italy's best lentils are produced. You can enjoy its spectacular views, that are best to admire in June and July while various colors are blooming.
  • You will then proceed to the small medieval town of Norcia, that is surrounded by city walls and gates. There, you will walk through the beautiful historic city center and have lunch at a trattoria that serves food and several different salumi that are typical dishes of the region.
  • You will then return to the hotel for a short break before enjoying dinner together with the group at a local trattoria frequented only by locals, where you can experience its scrumptious food and warmhearted atmosphere.

Day 4, Wednesday - Truffle hunting with a truffle dog, visit to Spoleto, and walking in Foligno

  • Your day will begin with a scenic dive through the mountains to a typical Italian farming home with unforgettable mountain views.
  • There, you can enjoy a truffle hunting adventure in the hills with a truffle hunter and his scent dog, followed by lunch at their family's farming home.
  • On the way back, you will stop at the picturesque town of Spoleto, famous for its music festival held each July. You can explore some of the town's magnificent sites like the castle, Duomo, Roman bridge, and narrow roads.
  • In the late afternoon, you will drive to Foligno for a pizza dinner after you enjoy a walk through the beautiful town center.

Day 5, Thursday - Visit Perugia, ceramic laboratory in Deruta, and a cooking class on legumes and cereals

  • On Thursday morning, you will drive to Umbria's capital, Perugia. The city boasts Roman and Etruscan monuments and has a gorgeous historic center. It is known for its colorful art museums, shops, bakeries, and Perugian chocolate called Baci.
  • There, you will walk through the historic center together with your guide and have lunch at a pleasant trattoria.
  • In the afternoon, you will visit a ceramic laboratory in Deruta, where you will get to see the process of making and decorating pottery.
  • Your Italian cooking class will begin in the late afternoon and will be based on cereals and legumes that are typical of the region.
  • Afterwards, you can enjoy a dinner of the tasty creations that you made during the class.

Day 6, Friday - Admire Giotto in Assisi, wine tasting, and farewell dinner

  • In the morning, you will drive to Assisi for a guided visit with an English-speaking Francescano monk. He will take you inside the Saint Francis Basilica, adorned with colorful frescoes by the renowned Italian painter, Giotto. You will have free time to shop and see the sights in the town of Assisi.
  • Afterwards, you will enjoy a light lunch at a family winery as you admire the beautiful view, before returning to Bevagna.
  • In the late afternoon, you will drive to Montefalco, also called the Terrace of Umbria, where you will stroll through the charismatic town and admire its dazzling views of the fields below.
  • The farewell dinner will be held in the Montefalco city center at an elegant restaurant.

Day 7, Saturday - Departure day

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Foligno train station for your trip back home or to continue your travels through the beautiful country of Italy.

Arrival by airplane

The nearest airport is Aeroporto Internazionale dell'Umbria - Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi (PEG). From there you can take the shuttle transport to Bevagna or take the train to Foligno. The train costs 8.50 EUR.
