You will stay in the heart of Bologna, in a very pretty and romantic mansard roof apartment, private and completely independent. The apartment is 65 square meters wide and is situated in a historical building that dates back to the 13th century. It is located at the second floor and as is the case in most traditional Italian houses; there is no elevator. The flat is composed of an entrance, a main bedroom with a double bed, another room with a single bed, available if booking for 3 guests, and a complete bathroom with shower.

Short wooden stairs take you to the upper level, where you will find a large living room with kitchen area and another small bathroom with only a toilet. The apartment is completely furnished with air conditioning in the living room, a ceiling fan in the bedroom, laundry machine, dishwasher, satellite TV, hair dryer, heating, refrigerator, freezer, electric oven, and all bed, table, and bath linens. The apartment is very quiet, but very close to food markets, supermarkets, bars, shops, pizzerias, trattorias, restaurants, banks, and more.

Day 1, Thursday - Arrival and welcome dinner

  • You will be picked up at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) or Bologna train station and taken to your accommodation, a very pretty apartment, private and completely independent, situated in the heart of Bologna and just a few minutes walking distance from the Two Towers, symbol of Bologna, and from the main square, Piazza Maggiore.
  • In the evening, you will receive a first introduction to the traditional Emilia Romagna cuisine at a welcoming restaurant in Bologna's center.

Day 2, Friday - Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar factory visits

  • In the early morning, after breakfast, you will have the chance to see where and how Parmigiano Reggiano is produced. Watch as the casaro transforms the milk into a wonderful wheel, before tasting some of the delicious aged Parmigiano yourselves.
  • You will proceed to a local acetaia, where the traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena is made and aged. The owner will show you his barrels full of the precious balsamic vinegar and share some of his passion and pride for the result of years of work. Of course, the visit could not end without a tasting of balsamic vinegar at various ages.
  • After the visits, you will go back to your apartment in Bologna for some free relaxation time.
  • In the afternoon, you will meet your guides again for a two-hour walking tour of their favorite spots and hidden corners of Bologna. During the tour, you will be offered a great gelato at one of the best gelateria.

Day 3, Saturday - Shopping for cooking ingredients

  • In the morning, you will meet your instructor as you walk together to the beautiful central food market of Bologna, called Mercato di Mezzo, where the native families of Bologna still go every day to buy their fresh food: fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and cheese. You will be guided through the shops as you learn about the history, culture and traditions of the gastronomy of the region.
  • Here, you will be buying the ingredients for the afternoon class.
  • Before the class, you will enjoy a light lunch at a salumeria in the market area, based on regional salumi and cheeses with a glass of wine.
  • In the afternoon, you will take part in the cooking class, held at your apartment. You will cook together with your instructors, following a four-course menu of traditional dishes of the region, that includes fresh hand-made pasta, which you will be serving for your farewell dinner.

Day 4, Sunday - Departure

  • In the morning, your guides will take you to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) or Bologna train station where you can depart on your trip back home or continue your travels through beautiful Italy.
  • Visit a balsamic vinegar producer

  • Visit the Parmigiano Reggiano factory
