Accommodation is included in a superior room (Pheasant, Partridge and Ptarmigan). You can upgrade to either the four-poster suite or the River Suite for a supplement of 40 GBP (Grouse or the River Suite).
There may be many hotels in Dumfries and Galloway, but Blackaddie Country House Hotel pride themselves on being relaxed while offering professional service - and they're pet-friendly too. Dogs are allowed in most bedrooms although not all as they feel it is important to keep a few free for those that may have allergies. Dogs are also allowed in all public rooms with the exception of the restaurant and breakfast rooms where food is served (unless you have a guide dog).
Four of the hotel rooms have super king size beds, one of which is a four-poster, some of which can be twinned if preferred, and great en-suite bathrooms with a selection of Arran Aromatic toiletries, large bath sheets, robes, and slippers. All the others have showers only. They also have cots and Z-beds available for babies and youngsters. There is no charge for children under the age of 5.
There is as you would expect a well-stocked bar with a good array of single malts for you to try. They have a large selection of books in their library, and if you have started one but not finished it during your stay, they are happy for you to take it away if you either leave a book in its place or send it back once you’ve finished with it.
The hotel has a large car park immediately outside and a separate car park for the cottages. In this lovely hotel in Dumfries and Galloway, each of the six rooms and the River Suite are individually and recently refurbished. In-room facilities include a multi-channel flat-screen TV with Freeview and some with DVD player. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary homemade shortbread, Scottish tablet, and Scottish mineral water are also provided. There is also a selection of DVDs, CDs, books, and games available for guests during their stay.
With its own French windows leading out onto a patio over the river and a fantastic view down its length, the River Suite is a secluded spot in which to totally relax. It boasts a large lounge and small kitchen area if you feel like being self-sufficient. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and is off the bedroom which has a super king size bed which can, if preferred, be twinned.

For an excellent room in a Country House Hotel in Scotland, the newly refurbished Mallard room has a magnificent view down the length of the river, making it very popular. Monsoon shower only, no bath. This room is suitable for pets.

It’s now twice the size it was and superbly decorated with super king size supremely comfortable bed, view over the garden and the river beyond. Hotels in southwest Scotland vary considerably, but the smallest classic room boasts a fabulously comfortable five-foot double bed, view over the side garden, and shower only. This room is suitable for pets.
Daily breakfast is included as well as two special course dinners (which include canapés each night) and coffee each night. The first night, you will enjoy a five-course dinner. The second night's dinner will be an eight-course menu with wine pairing.

The restaurant is open every evening for dinner from 6:30 p.m. and if you are staying in the hotel, they automatically reserve a table for you, but if you would like the gourmet tasting menu instead of the fine dining menu, please let the hotel know prior to arrival. For non-residents booking is essential. Lunch is available but only by advance booking.
Dinner is served in the dining room with its dual aspect views over the garden and the river beyond. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room, with its view down the river. Dining at the Blackaddie restaurant is an event to be savoured - one of the best restaurants in Dumfries and Galloway.

From a stunning coastline complete with bird sanctuaries, fantastic sandy beaches, and hidden coves, heather clad hills and deep steep glens, waterfalls, and sparkling mountain burns, large forest parks, and dark skies. Wildlife of all kinds can be found on both the land and in the sea and rivers, yet not so many people know of or have visited the area.
The town boasts the highest village in Scotland complete with a ski club. Dramatic castles and country estates, beautiful gardens, and empty roads, there is so much to do in the region and the hotel can help point you in the right direction for its many sights and hidden treasures. The area has some of the best mountain biking in the country in the 7 Stanes, the longest coast to coast footpath goes from the coast way over in the west at Port Patrick, right through the region and past the hotel front door.
The region is famous for its arts and crafts boasting many world-class artists, potters, and sculptors living in Dumfries and Galloway and for the art to be found in the landscape such as Henry Moore’s statues and Andy Goldsworthy’s striding arches. On the hotel's doorstep is the Crawick Multiverse a Charles Jenks Landform Art Project and in the town, an exhibition of the Unique Sanquhar Pattern knitting can be found at ‘A’ The Airts. In the hotel, they exhibit and sell original paintings by a local artist as well as those of Ian’s niece and other Edinburgh art students work.
And, of course, Robbie Burns spent many years in Dumfries and Galloway and must have visited and even stayed at Blackaddie at some point as his best friend lived here at Blackaddie. History, scenery, wildlife, activities, and culture, what more could you want?
