Tour to Rioja wine region

Spain is widely famous for its wines’ high quality, and Rioja is the most important wine region, with almost 700 wineries of all types and sizes. Visit the best wineries, vineyards, and historical villages and try some of the finest wines, red, white or sparkling. Guided by a local expert, you’ll visit two renowned local wineries, understanding the winemaking process and tasting several wines in each of them. At the end of the day, you’ll enjoy a walk through the medieval streets of Laguardia village.

Location

Basque history is rich and proud; the region was never conquered by the Moors or the Romans, which was partially due to the region’s geography and partly due to the Basques’ unique character. Instead of fighting the Romans, they made trade and transportation deals with them. The Basques were experts in shipbuilding, fishing, and navigation. Cod and whaling were the main industries until the industrial revolution when manufacturing took off; to this day, Basques have a reputation in Spain as being very industrious.

Your holidays will take place in San Sebastian and Rioja region. Donostia - San Sebastián is divided into three main areas, each with its own personality, partly reflected in its three magnificent beaches. With the peaceful Ondarreta Beach and the Wind Comb sculpture on one side, the thundering waves of the Zurriola Beach dotted with surfers on the other, and the famous Concha Beach in the center, each has their own spots much loved by the locals. With all this to offer, the city has become a reference as one of the main European destinations.

San Sebastian is foodie heaven and local culture revolves largely around food. The prestigious travel guide “Ultimate Eatlist” from Lonely Planet has awarded the San Sebastián pintxos the title of best gastronomic experience in the world. The city has been a training ground for many great chefs.

Any excuse to visit Donostia - San Sebastián is good. Besides the unequalled beauty of La Concha Bay, which the royal family fell in love with at the start of the last century and continues to captivate anyone who comes to see it, the city is the place to come to for innovative cuisine, a wide range of festivals that have made it a genuine cultural phenomenon, and an active and healthy lifestyle that is very much in touch with the natural resources on offer.

All these reasons have made it a top tourist destination over the last two centuries. To put it in a nutshell, Donostia - San Sebastian is a wonderful city to get lost in and explore.

For wine lovers who want to explore a wide range of outstanding wines, visiting Rioja is the best option. With its beautiful landscapes, medieval villages and exquisite wines, Rioja is Spain’s most famous wine region. There are hundreds of bodegas in Rioja to visit and they are spread out over three zones: Rioja Alavesa, Alta, and Baja.

Rioja has got it all - from traditional bodegas and medieval caves to modern architectural cellars. Bask for All's local knowledge and expertise enables them to work with a selection of wineries, restaurants, and partners that will make your trip accessible.

Food

Basque cuisine is wide-ranging and varied; it is based on ingredients sourced from the Cantabrian Sea (fish and seafood) and from the local gardens and farms (vegetables, cereals, meat, etc.).

The following meals are included:

  • Breakfast
  • Drinks

The following drinks are included:

  • Alcoholic beverages

Things to do (optional)

Stroll along one of the best beaches in Europe. The Concha Bay is the image par excellence of San Sebastián: it is the most classic, the most photographed, the most visited of them all. Its 1,500 meters of white sand are elegant and cosmopolitan (it will come as no surprise that the Concha is considered to be one of the best city beaches in Europe).

Delve into the essence of Donostia. The streets of the Old Town are crammed full of bars offering the best pintxos in the city and its emblematic buildings such as the Basilica of St. Mary of the Chorus and St. Vincent's Church are both attractive and interesting. You can combine the culinary experience with sports activities such as surfing, golf or other activities. There are also several festivals during the year such as the jazz or the international film festival.

Spa treatments

La Perla is now one of the biggest and best urban thalassotherapy centers in Europe, with a central location at the very heart of La Concha Bay. A unique setting, where seawater is used to achieve true relaxation therapy and body toning. A comprehensive wellness center where you will find the latest technology in physical sports, therapy, relaxation, and wellbeing programs.
