Cant tell the difference between Chateau Margaux and Chateauneuf-du-Pape? Wondering how rose wine is made? And what to drink with spicy foods - wine or beer? Le Wine Weekend aims to answer these questions in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Youll taste wine in the local wine villages of the southern Rhone Valley, including Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Beaumes-de-Venise. Became a wine expert and enjoy the beauty of Provence with Auberge du Vin!
You can choose from the farmhouse bedrooms of the self-contained cottage, Gite Tourelle. In the farmhouse, there are 4 master bedrooms that include a hall, bedroom, shower room, and toilet.
Chambre 1: 2 single beds (90 centimeters) which can be made up as a double one (180 cm).
Chambre 2: queen-size double bed (160 centimeters).
Chambre 3: king-size double bed (195 centimeters).
Chambre 4: queen-size double bed (160 centimeters).
All the en-suite bathrooms in the cottage are modern and have an open shower, toilet, toiletries, towels, and a hairdryer. Chambre 4 has a bathroom.
Walk around the vineyards, swim in the pool or just relax in the garden with a glass of wine.
19:30 - 4-course dinner of local produce with local wines, in the shade of the wisteria at Auberge du Vin.
08:00 to 10:00 - breakfast
10:00 - first training session introducing the Rhne Valley and its wines together with the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine. Youll have samples of 5-6 wines to taste and assess.
12:30 - lunch in the garden, matching this mornings wines to different foods.
14:30 - depart to the wine village of Chteauneuf-du-Pape - 30 minutes away by Auberge du Vins transport. This private tour of top wine producers and tasting of their wines is led by Linda. Youll have an opportunity to buy wines, as well as to visit a chocolate factory for delicious souvenirs from your trip. You can visit another two producers, depending on time and appetite. Please let Auberge du Vin know if there are any favorite places you would like to visit.
18:00 - evening degustation / tasting of Rhne wines.
19:30 - you will go to Chez Serge, which is located 10 minutes away. Its one of Auberge du Vins favorite French restaurants in Carpentras and run by Serge Ghoukassian, France's Sommelier of the Year in 2008 and a passionate advocate for wines of the Mont Ventoux region. A 3-course meal and 1,5 bottle of wine here are included in your vacation. Then youll have transport back to Auberge du Vin.
08:00 to 10:00 - breakfast
10:00 - second training session. Youll learn in greater detail some of the themes of wine making in this area: When do winemakers choose to use oak? When is the right age at which to drink wines? For how long should you keep wines? We will taste 5-6 wines as samples, including older vintages from Linda's personal cellar.
12:30 - depart for lunch in the village of Cairanne - a 25-minute drive. Lunch option is in a wine bar for a 3-course menu du jour.
15:00 - visit the village of Gigondas and a Gigondas winemaker to taste their wines.
16:00 - visit the cellar of Beaumes-de-Venise - a village which makes top quality red wines as well as the Muscat sweet wines.
18:00 - evening tasting of Rhone wines.
19:30 - dinner at a local farm, Domaine Camerette, which uses its own organic wines and foods to produce a set 4-course dinner (optional).
08:00 to 10:30 - breakfast.
10:30 - an optional visit to l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a capital of Provence antiques which has a vibrant and colorful food and vegetable market.

This retreat will take place in Mazan, Provence, France.
Auberge du Vin is located only 15 minutes of drive away from the A7 auto route which runs north from Marseille up through Lyon and beyond.
The closest international airport is Avignon international airport (AVN). Other popular airports are Nimes-Ales-Camargue-Cevennes international airport (FNI) and Marseille Provence airport (MRS) that are both located 1 hour 15 minutes away. Auberge du Vin can pick you up from these airports on request. The pick-up is at additional cost. If youre coming to Provence from outside of Europe, youre likely to arrive to Paris at Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) where you can step straight onto the TGV train to Avignon form Gare Avignon TGV train station.
Avignon is well served by the French TGV and Eurostar networks. It has 2 major railway stations: Avignon Central and Avignon TGV. Your preferred Avignon station is the Gare Avignon TGV at which the major car-hire companies are located.
