During your wine journey, you will be staying at 4 and 5-star hotels in various places along Douro, Coimbria, and Evora.


Day 1, Monday

This wonderful tour begins with dinner at Quinta do Bomfim, in the Upper Douro Valley. The quinta is family-owned and the Symingtons have worked there for five generations.

Day 2, Tuesday

The real touring will begin at one of the most famous names of Port, Quinta do Noval. This is one of the most beautifully maintained quintas in the Douro Valley. You will continue to Quinta Vale D. Maria, a small, but excellent estate, where you will meet winemaker, Sandra Tavares da Silva Borges who will show you her elegant Ports and delicious red wines.

Day 3, Wednesday

You will visit Luis Pato today, one of the most revered names of the Portuguese wine trade. Filippa Pato is following in her father Luis’ pioneering footsteps, championing the “Baga” grape.

Day 4, Thursday

Quinta dos Roques is one of the new wave of single estates in the Dao region. Their wines from indigenous Portuguese varieties, especially Touriga Nacional, are superbly concentrated.

Day 5, Friday

You will make your way to Quinta do Centro, located at Reguengo, on the slopes of Serra de São Mamede. The owner, English wine writer Richard Mayson, has specialised in Portuguese wines for over twenty years. He produces three different premium red wines, each from a blend of grape varieties.

Day 6, Saturday

Your first visit is to Quinta do Carmo, one of the most beautiful country houses. Its walled gardens and ancient palm trees are an oasis of tranquility. You will pay an evening visit to Herdade de Esporao. The most famous wine from the estate is Monte Velho but the experiments with Trincadeira grapes have resulted in some world-class wines as well.

Day 7, Sunday

You will travel to Quinta de Chocapalha, the family estate which makes a charming selection of wines. At Chocapalha, Sandra uses robotic lagars and all French oak in a meticulous operation that has taken the wines of Lisboa to new heights.

Day 8, Monday

Today, you will spend some free time in Lisbon, before a final lunch at Solar dos Presuntos, known for its excellent seafood. After the lunch, you will prepare for your trip back home.

Afterwards, you will explore Coimbra, Portugal’s think-tank, found halfway between Lisbon and Oporto. Finally, your trip will end with a stop in Evora, an enchanting UNESCO World Heritage Site. This old city is home to a wandering web of old streets and an impressive granite cathedral.
