Austrian wine is undergoing a well-deserved revival in the wine world, with wine journalists and consumers alike being enthused by its attractive range of wines. Although historically perhaps known best outside of Austria for their sweet wines, today it is their emblematic white variety of Gruner Veltliner that is grabbing all the attention, with its attractive spicy notes. There are 35 grape varieties grown in Austria, mainly white, but there are some reds also demanding attention, such as Blaufrankisch with its good acidity and cheery notes.
