Maremma is a wide and unspoilt plain overlooking the Tyrrheanian Sea, around Grosseto, in Tuscany. It is a land rich in history and culture, with strong and antique tastes and perfumes, unforgettable landscapes and events for all tastes. We have valuable sites as Etruscan necropolises and Roman colonies. Magic spots, as the Giardino dei Tarocchi (tarot garden) by Niki de Saint-Phalle and the Spiaggia delle Donne (womens beach) at Talamone are tiny special jewels. And you cant miss the stunning roads, characterized by a marked sacred and ritual value, cut into tuff stone by the Etruscans.

A journey in Maremma offers the chance to plunge into its wild nature, from the inland hills to the mountain landscape, from the plains, ancient drained marshes, to the coasts, which have been awarded of 5 blue flags. Tuscan Maremma has many natural areas such as park of Maremma, WWF oasis in the lagoon of Orbetello and WWF natural reserve of Lago di Burano. Moreover, discover and relax at the Saturnia thermal springs, an unforgettable place. Maremma is also an excellent well-known area for Tuscan golf players, with amazing courses surrounded by wonderful landscapes.

Delight in Tuscan dishes throughout this vacation. You will experience 3 full course Tuscan dinners at the property and a chance to taste a glass of red and pleasant Morellino di Scansano, the most famous wine of the region.

The traditional menu of Tuscan Maremma

Our appetizers, which come from the traditional poor and rural Tuscan cuisine, are toasted bread (bruschetta), with cherry tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms from our region or in-season vegetables, dressed with our special extra virgin olive oil, characterized by its sharp and aromatic taste, or the well-known Tuscan croutons.

Our homemade pasta, tagliatelle, tagliolini, gnocchi, tortelli, brigoli and pappardelle, our typical soups made of different kinds of mushrooms, or our Mediterranean vegetable soups, with chickpeas and beans, the famous acquacotta (cooked water) and our special zuppa del Casale (farmhouse soup), are only some of the typical starters of our region.

Our second courses are grilled meat served on the griddle and rich and nifty dishes made of wild boar, the cinto Toscano and the chianina, all coming from our traditional Tuscan cuisine. Finally, our desserts are rigorously homemade, created by our chefs imagination: panna cotta (a kind of cream caramel) with mixed berries and the typical tozzetti (a kind of biscuit) served with vin santo (holy wine).

"I stayed here as part of a cycling holiday, great food and service. Our cycling coach - Corrado - was great fun, took us on some fantastic rides and local restaurants. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Is a family run establishment, who were very flexible based on our needs. Real Tuscany."

"We spent a whole day in the middle of the Tuscan hills, cuddled by the best staff ever. We enjoyed the day spa and the amazing outdoor jacuzzi. We also had dinner in their restaurant after a classy wine tasting. The dinner was a delicious homemade Tuscan meal. It was a great experience at cheap price. Its 5 stars and no regrets."

"Just please don't claim the 4 stars. It would have been a great time if we had 3 stars expectations. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, and breakfast is alright. Definitely rooms aren't equipped to be 4 stars. Air conditioner is loud, TV doesn't switch to English, and bathroom is sadly empty. The spa is an indoor swimming pool and a cold sauna. The outdoor swimming pool is great but full of kids. I guess it is great if you have yours too."

"Beautifully located near the town of Scansano. Great view from the appartments, overlooking a valley. Really stunning! Good atmosphere at reception in main building. Very nice people, easy going and near native speakers. Steep walk though to get there, which is the only minus. Great restaurant, had lovely dinner there, with great food and nice people.Stayed June 2012, traveled with family"

"Molto bene! Tres bon! Sehr gut! Antico Casale di Scansano is excellent in any language. I spent 6 days at the resort and it was the perfect combination of relaxation, activity, pampering and retreating from the world. The view from the room , or anywhere in the resort, is spectacular, just the thing to sooth away the tensions of the city. I highly recommend the cooking classes - Chef Claudio Bovicelli is a wonderful teacher and has fun in kitchen. The food was excellent ..... the breakfast cake selection was delicious and always fresh. The staff are cheerful and always very helpful.Stayed April 2012, traveled solo"
