Alla Madonna del Piatto is a small eco-friendly B&B near Assisi, Italy. All rooms of the centuries-old farmhouse have magnificent views of the Umbrian green hills and of Assisi’s St. Francis basilica. Each of the six rooms of the historic B&B is tastefully decorated with wrought-iron beds, antique cabinets, and handmade fabrics. Alla Madonna del Piatto has renovated the home with great attention to details and plenty of character. The two rooms on the ground floor are in the oldest part of the farmhouse and feature impressive stonewalls and beamed ceilings.

The first-floor rooms are bright and colorful with large windows. All rooms are equally comfortable and all offer breathtaking views of Assisi’s valley blanketed with meadows, forests, and olive groves. The vine-covered patio and terrace are perfect spots for al fresco picnics on summer evenings. You will enjoy breakfast in the large sala that has been decorated with colorful local pottery. Alla Madonna del Piatto has a lounge area with open fireplace and a comprehensive collection of pictures and guidebooks to help you plan your vacation.

Recommended Airports

Driving directions

Please ask your hosts for detailed driving directions even if you use a GPS. There are no signs to reach your accommodation.

From the north: A1 exit Valdichiana, SS E45, bypass Perugia and follow signs for Assisi on the SS75

From the south: A1 exit Orte, SS E45 (SS 3bis) follow direction Perugia, then SS75 direction-Assisi-Foligno

Exit at Santa Maria degli Angeli Nord. You will encounter a series of roundabouts that are numbered. At roundabout number 2 follow Santa Maria degli Angeli. In Santa Maria degli Angeli drive along the huge church with a golden statue on the top of the facade. Drive straight on along the church, then take the underpass beneath the railway. Note the sign for Assisi almost in front of the MacDonald’s as soon as you emerge from the underpass. Continue following signs for Assisi until roundabout number 5 (approximately 3.5 kilometers or 2.1 miles from the Church).

Here turn left downhill, direction Perugia (SS 147), you will be soon driving on the Ponte San Vittorino (a bridge close to a bus and camper parking lot). Just after the bridge turn sharp right in Via San Vittorino along the parking lot (this is Parking area E).

Continue straight on for 1.7 kilometers (1 mile) without taking any turn until a T-junction where you have to turn left. You will see the sign of Via Petrata on your left as soon as you turn. Continue uphill for 4.2 kilometers (2.6 miles). Do not take Via Mosciole nor any turn into unpaved roads until you arrive at a large stone building with a metal gate, the Castello di Petrata. After the Castello you will notice the house across the hill with solar panels on the roof.

Continue past the Castello di Petrata for 1 km (0.6 miles) until you see a long, low house of a white-cream color at nr. 35-37. The B&B is at nr. 37. Note the ceramic plate depicting a medieval lady near the house number.

The house has many doors, please ring at nr. 37 (which is indicated below the plate) and we will tell you where to park.
