"I had visited all of Western Europe except for Spain and signed up for the 8-day Ultimate Foodie Tour of Spain starting in Madrid and ending in Barcelona with Taste of Spain. From start to the end, it was exactly what I had hoped for. I am not a tour person in general. This is only my second time and was glad I joined. Our group was 9 from all over the world which was a perfect size and offered another great dimension as we got to know each other and became a fun group to travel with. It really is different when you put yourself in someone else's capable hands and enjoy instead of having to do it all yourself. Miguel, was extremely helpful booking the tour and responding to any questions. I added time in Madrid before and Barcelona after and he offered to help in any way incl. extending my hotel in both cities which made my travel easier. Cesar, our guide, is the best. Extremely knowledgeable, personable, fun, helpful...everything you would hope in a guide. I made a few recommendations regarding the hotels. Don't take this the wrong way, they were not bad by any means, but felt the rooms should be upgraded to the next level. Some had better rooms than others. I suggest they make sure everyone gets the better rooms. Be prepared to walk, eat and drink! All good. I tasted and learned so much about Spanish cuisine and wine, much more than if I had been on my own and had seen and tasted rather than experienced. The demonstrations, classes, restaurant and winery tours were great, plus we had walking tours to get a feel for each city. I added one day to Madrid and 2 to Barcelona and was glad I did. I was able to experience more of the sites in both than would be able to on the tour given it's packed itinerary. I did an all day hop on hop off tour in Madrid and stopped along the way at the botanical gardens and museums. In Barcelona, I made reservations for the Gaudi houses, Sagrada Familia (not to be missed) and Parc Guell. All very worthwhile rather than trying to fit a visit in between tour activities. More relaxing and didn't have a clock beating to get back. My favorites: Flamenco, ham/pork lunch in Madrid, pintxos walking lunch in San Sebastián, Guggenheim museum in Bilboa, Boqueria food market in Barcelona and the cooking demo that followed, last dinner and lobster stew in Barcelona. Great way to spend a week! As a critical foodie and a traveler, I was not disappointed."

"A must if you're passionate about food and knowing where it comes from. We took the one day jamon Iberico tour and it was an incredibly fulfilling experience. The first two hours was a visit to a corporate owned Jamon Iberico producer with state of the art curing facilities. Highly informative but somewhat "sanitized" and I had to call Miguel to confirm that we were actually going to see actual live Iberico pigs. I needn't have worried. After that we were driven to a "dehesa" owned by a small family which grows their own Iberico pigs and processes / cures their own Jamon Iberico in a small facility on premises. Our guide was the owners' daughter, a charming young lady obviously very passionate about her work and having a real connection with the animals they farm. She toured us through their dehesa and described the challenges of raising their pigs organically. The star of the show were the Iberico pigs, playing with each other and happily grazing amongst grass and clover. They lead a good life. The visit was capped by a delicious home-cooked lunch prepared by her mother - jamon Iberico (with second servings), Iberico sausages, Iberico pork grilled on their outdoor oven, homemade goat cheese, etc. On a side note, I booked this tour in 2015 but had a family emergency so we had to postpone our trip a year out. No problem. Miguel and his team were very accommodating. Our driver Luis picked us up promptly at our hotel and toured us around Aracena (up the hill all the way to castle with fantastic views of the valley) after our Dehesa visit."

"From start to finish my husband and I had a wonderful time. Miguel set up a day just as we had requested: comfortable transport to and from Seville to a tour and Iberian ham tasting at a large processing firm followed by a visit to a farm where we toured the land, got up close and personal with the pigs, and enjoyed a fabulous lunch. Luis, Loli, Armando, and Helena were all warm and friendly and we loved the experience."

"If you are in the area of Sevilla, Andalusia or just wanting a very special experience, take this tour... learning about ham production is very interesting but the trip out to an organic small jamon finca is incredible... so beautiful and you feel like you have entered into another world... the walk around the farm, all the info about raising the pigs and then experiencing the produce from the farm, all in one day, is such an incredible experience, such a special trip."

"We had a wonderful and highly informative tour of a jamon Iberico processing operation including a guided tasting of their hams. This was followed by a superb visit that included a five-course lunch at a local family operated organic Pata Negra pig farm. We decided to take this tour to learn all that we could about Iberian ham. We were blown away by the entire experience. We felt that we learned so much about the world's best ham, how the pigs are raised in free-range conditions while eating the best natural foods, and how the hams are cured to perfection. Our lunch at the farm included local wine, jamon Iberico de Bellota, organic cheeses and salads, a delicious squash soup and a tasty dessert. During our farm visit, we enjoyed our interactions with the family on our walking tour and during our lunch. It was a fabulous cultural exchange which we treasure. The entire tour was so well planned and so natural and easy going that we are looking for another opportunity to tour with A Taste of Spain."

"This trip has it all: a wonderful, intelligent, and entertaining guide; carefully selected restaurants to tempt your palate; charming tours through history- both artistically and culturally; wine country, shopping with a charming and gracious chef, Jaume, where you learn something new at each turn, in class and through the glorious markets; he will make you feel like a guest in his home; die-hard foodies will love it! I felt enriched, fully immersed in the culture, and so well take care of. Cesar, our guide is a true Renaissance man. You won't find better. Good-natured, considerate, a fountain of knowledge, and funny, funny!!! Miguel organizes, executes, and delivers customer service at a level that many aspire to. His response time on questions and emails is first-rate! He must sleep with his iPhone under his pillow! Both men deserve many accolades and thanks! Only your mother would ensure that you were happier and well fed .The pace was terrific, too. It's nice to meet at 9:30 or 10:00 a.m. most mornings, instead of dragging oneself out of bed at 6:30 am, after a late evening out. This is a smaller tour- about 15 people. Great way to enjoy, meet others, and share interests. We ate and laughed until we couldn't do any more. Fun, interesting group of people, in the group, and through the private tours. After all, Spain is a country where people dine later and it is commonplace to be strolling after midnight, so the later wakeup is very good. The food, well, prepare your taste buds for an explosion of delight! Tapas bars and restaurants are carefully chosen, and your waistline will become much healthier. You will be dreaming of jamon and saying it in your sleep. However, it will be the happiest increase in girth, which you will experience in a long time. Itinerary was great, many cities on the tour, vineyards, seaside, and insider's settings, just like Anthony Bourdain! You'll never be able to replicate this yourself. Run to book with Miguel. You won't be disappointed and will have one of the best travelling experiences ever. Cheers!"

"A Taste of Spains Ultimate foodie tour ended on a high note in Barcelona. The shopping trip through the Boqueria and cooking with chef Jaume was a fun way to experience Barcelonas food. A side trip to Sitges was picturesque and beautiful. There was a good mix of food, cultural experience and free time in Barcelona - a fantastic end to the tour. We were well taken care of by A Taste of Spain and our masterful guide, Cesar."

"My friends, my friends... San Sebastian was the second stop on our Ultimate Foodie Tour of Spain. A Taste of Spain is a truly professional outfit, looking after all the logistics involved in transporting us around Spain. More importantly however, satisfying our thirst for knowledge and wine and our hunger to experience the real Spain with its fantastic food. San Sebastian is an incredible destination, with an amazing number of Pintxos bars. We stayed at the Hotel Astoria 7, with its Film-star themed rooms and Alfred Hitchcock waiting to welcome you in the foyer. Our experience in San Sebastian culminated in a cooking lesson in the members only gastronomic society, where we learned to cook with asparagus, cod, chorizo and mushrooms. Why the title of the review? Well, these are the words that our guide Cesar would use to grab our attention, before imparting further knowledge from his encyclopaedic memory. This could be about the area, history, food, wine, art, architecture, statues, music - anything really! At times he must have felt like he was herding cats as wed wander off; however he had an amazing ability to impart knowledge in an interesting and entertaining way - a real asset to the tour. If youre half tempted to book this holiday, just do it - you will not be disappointed."
